Default Brembo Brake Line Question

For those of you that have made the conversion from standard brakes to Brembos, I have a question regarding brake lines as I am a bit confused by the connection of the line to the Brembo caliper. It appears that OEM line connects to Brembo by way of a straight line entering the back of the caliper and held by a flare nut. By contrast, the OEM non-Brembo line connects to non-Brembo caliper at a right angle and is held by a banjo bolt and copper washers. Therefore, it's assumed that brakes lines for Brembo and non-Brembo calipers are different. However, if one buys, say, StopTech aftermarket braided SS lines, it appears that the same line (with banjo-style end) fits both types of caliper. Moreover, I seem to recall a member posting something saying that the existing non-Brembo lines work fine when installing Brembos.

I am sure there are a number readers that have made this conversion and can explain how lines are connected to the Brembo calipers.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this.

I'm kind of curious about this myself. I would like to make the switch as well one day.

Brake lines are the same for non-Brembo & Brembo. I just converted from non-Brembo to Brembo and I did not have to change my stainless steel brake lines.

That's strange, when we received some lines from a vendor on here they sent us the wrong ones for the non-brembo Z and we tried to use them and they wouldn't work. The end bolts were too long. We had to send them back and get the Brembo ones which worked just fine.

That's the key -- it was probably the wrong ones in the first place. Last year, I replaced my stock '06 rubber brake lines with stainless steel brake lines. When I recently upgraded to Brembos, I used the same stainless steel brake lines without issues.

Well the ones we received were for the non-brembo Z. And wouldn't fit the Brembo one.

The stoptech lines have you remove the hard line fitting that comes out of the Brembo caliper letting you use the same line for Brembo and standard cars:

I actually no longer work with StopTech, just havent changed my screenname yet

For the folks that didn't need new brake lines when they upgrade to Brembo, do you guys have the 03-05 Z or the 06+?
