How Much To Lower?
Hey, just wondering what the average person lowered there Z. I have an 08 if that helps any (if there is any difference). Also wanted to add that I live in CT where the roads are not even close to perfect. What is a safe drop? I do plan to put 19x9.5 +25 rims on the car eventually if that is a factor.

Im going to go ahead and be practical here.
I think the perfect drop is around 1-1.2 inches. Thats what the tanabe gf210's give you and I think it looks great. The ride is awesome and the car is even with the top of the tires so you have no fender gap.
However just lowering it that much may give you some problems. I have to back into my driveway to get over the small drainage curb and then I also have a small hump in the driveway that my midpipe scraps on. Then when I go to a shop I can BARELY get it on the lift, last time we had to lift up a little bit on the car to get the arms underneigth, and alignment racks are the worse, hard to get up those. Add a body kit and it gets worse.
But its worth it to me! The car looks and handles a great deal better. However I live in the south and we have decent roads if I lived up north I might be focusing on sway bars for performance to maintain ride quality and clearance. Also remember the main reason for coil overs is to allow the easy swap out of springs and the ability to corner weigh your car... not nesscary for most street cars, a lot of guys buy coilovers because they think they are baddass and want to "slam" their cars... never actually using them. Im many cases lower is not necessarily better... you DO need suspension travel lol.

ty very much. can you add on the difference in coils vs springs and why the drastic price difference. would you suggest getting springs and saving for coils when the dampers wear? something else?

you should be able to get the true coilover stances for about 1000 bucks and with one eye open you should be able to install them your self, if you lived in FL id help you out. and for offset if you going 9.5 all around id run a +10 or even a 0, ive got 19x11-5s and im fine.

I went for the compromise - 1" lower all the way around with Eibach Pro-kit. You'll need a camber kit for the rear at this height - I bought SPC, but there are others.
This is about as low as I can go here in Oklahoma City without creepin' around everywhere. Speed bumps can still be a beotch. My driveway has a small incline and the front lip barely clears.
