Default Hotchkis Stage 1 TVS - few questions

I'm looking to lower my car and increase the handling a bit so I was thinking about purchasing the Hotchkis TVS kit. Not looking for a huge drop. But anyway, here's the questions:

1) Will I need to buy anything else along with it such as a camber kit or will it be good to go as it is?

2) I'm assuming I will need to get it aligned after the install. Correct?

I'm also open to other suspension suggestions. Thanks for you help!

I have the kit. It's a great deal. I also didn't want a huge drop, so I was talked into the Hotchkis. To answer your questions, you will not need cambers. You should do an alignment if you haven't had one in a while.

I like the stance the kit gives my Z. It feels a lot like the stock setup, but I like the fact that it can be adjusted and it's pretty tight on the cornering and curves.

The Hotchkis TVS is a great setup, but the springs are far too soft for the 07 suspension. You would be better off with the Tein S Techs and the Hotchkis sways. The Hotchkis springs will certainly work, I just think the S Tech would work better as the rates are a bit better for the revised shocks

As for a camber kit, you may or may not need it - every car is different. I would try just the springs first and see if the shop can at least get the rear camber and toe back in spec with the factory provided adjustments. If not, it's easy and inexpensive to add the rear camber/toe kit. Front camber is not adjustable, but even if it ends up slightly more negative than factory, it will be fine...these cars like a bit more camber. Front toe is adjustable via the tie rod ends, and toe is much more critical to maintaining tire wear than camber at the heights these springs will lower you.

Thanks, I'll take the teins into consideration, I was unaware the Hotchkis springs were that soft. How much of a drop should I expect with Tein S techs? Also, how much does a typical camber kit go for? Thanks

Hey how do you know it's the endlink that's causing the clunking? Mine clunks sometimes going through uneven bumps on the roads but i'm yet to work out the causes... and how would new endlinks fix the problem? Just want to avoid spending money on new endlinks and then find out the problem's not fixed..

cheers

there are tons of threads on the issue...do some searching on here, you can see the various, potential causes. First thing to do, is rather than guess, get the car on a lift, and go through everything with a fine tooth comb. From endlinks, to bushings, to brackets, to inner/outer tie rods, to steering rack, to rack mounts/bushings, and so on. More often than not, the endlinks are a culprit, as they are barely up to task for the stock bars

I installed this kit on my Z and the tech could not get the front or rear into specs. He said I needed the toe bolts for the back and a-arms for the front. I understand the front is not totally necessary but if I got just the rear toe bolts is that enough or do I need the rear arm as well?

Just get the rear kit SPC works great for a street car. Can you bring your spec sheet to the meet tonight so i can look at it.

Also i do installs, cheap. I charge $60 for rear arms and toe bolts. Don't bother with front arms, a little extra camber up front doesn't hurt.

The arms mostly do camber, the bolts mostly do toe. The work best in conjunction with each other. When you make a camber adjustment the toe changes, when you make a toe adjustment camber changes. The alignment dude said you have a toe problem, the bolts may fix it , but with the bolts when you finally get the toe right , camber may be way off.

What is camber at right now, how far is toe off? Rear only, i need to know these things. Usually for a street driven Z, i like to get camber around the -1.5 , Combine that with your front camber that is around the same range because of lowering and you will have a nice setup with good tire wear.
