Brake swap idea?
Is it possible to get the rear brakes of the GTR installed on a 350z because my girls, rich brother is getting one and plans to upgrade his whole brake system and said I could have it for $500 for both rear calipers. I already have swap to Brembo's(the red upgraded ones) on the front and want a pair of rears and for 500 that is a price i can not resist.
On a related note how would GT-R rims and tires look on a Z, or any of the G35 cars? Not sure if that would be rice but just wondering.

Even if you found brackets to enable the swap you may run into problems. There is a good chance that the GT-R rear brakes have considerably more braking torque than the stock brakes. This would cause your rear brakes to lock up before your fronts, a very dangerous condition.
You will need to use a brake bias calculator such as TCE Performance has on their site.

+1, they will not work correctly on your car with the OEM brembos up front. Just sell them and make a nice profit and use that money to buy OEM rear brembos. Check this thread and you'll see you can get a pair of refurbished, rebuilt rear Brembo calipers for only ~$500.

Well, you could play around with a proportioning valve to adjust the brake bias. Those things are not expensive.
Or you can grab a set of the Infiniti G37 rear big brakes and bolt those on, something that I'm doing in conjunction with my Brembo GT front kit.

Will the G37 big brakes work with our car(ie 2003-2004 G and 2003-2005 Z)? Because I know the G brakes off 2005-2006(and Z latter on I think) models required also an upgrade in the brake booster or what not to make it work.

From the few examples I saw online, it was a direct swap.

As I understand from this, it is a direct swap.

The G37 brakes look good. So it does not work with 17 on the rear right? What bout 18 on the rear?

The 17" wheel is a whole different story. The disk itself is 13.8". The best thing you can do is removing the wheel, unbolting the caliper but do NOT disconnect the brakeline, (it's only a couple of bolts anyway, not that I did it myself, but I watched it done
), bolting on the G37 caliper, see if the wheel fits diameter-wise and has no contact with the caliper. If that works out, you're golden. Now, the issue of the rear brake disk. I have 13" Brembo GT kit on the front. Even though the rear disc has a larger diameter, it's working surface is narrower, also the cross drilled patters gives more dimention to the front disk, so it does not look like you have bigger disks in the rear.
Anyway, I will be sure to post some pics in this section after my swap is done.
