hey everyone

I have a stock z and am looking to begin the wallet-damaging vicious cycle of mods with suspension work, specifically coilovers.
My goal is to of course, improve handling (though I do not need a super aggressive setup since I don't plan on taking it out to the track very often) but I still want decent ride quality since its my daily driver. Also I want to go with a brand/set with a good reputation--i.e. long lasting (trying to reduce as much wallet damage as possible)

After doing some research it seems like the following coilovers seem to fit these goals:
1) tein flex (though i hear the ride is pretty harsh)
2) Bilstein PSS9 (Saw consistently good reviews but hmm these are a bit pricey)
3) Eibach Pro Street S (only saw like one review on these---anyone else have experience with these coilovers?

Any input/opinions would be greatly appreciated! Also, since i live in SD, do you guys have any recommendations for good shops for install and also for alignment? (I dont plan on slamming it, so hopefully a good alignment adjustment will suffice, instead of having to get a camberkit)
So far I found Group5, but they seem to specialize in european cars...

I just got Pss9s. They feel great and the car is very responsive, I haven't messed with them much yet though cause I literally just put them on a couple days ago and work has been killing me all week.

My only issue is they don't get very low. The back is set as low as it goes and thats not low at all. Perhaps the springs will settle a little more, but I don't know for sure

 

i have the BC racing coilovers and i love them

look for MDracers review on them

only $1000 too

 

PSS9 are cheaper than the Flex, and in a completely different class (in a good way), if overall comfort factors anywhere in to your decision making

First thing I'd suggest doing is set a list of your goals, in order of importance, and then, establish a budget.

 

thanx for the replies--And I actually had done quite a bit of searches and did find a lot of reviews on the Teins and bilsteins, but didn't find much on the eibach coilovers (mainly they were reviews on the springs only). So I added this post to see if there was anyone out there that might have some experience comparing these sets specifically.
And as for SD shop recs, I saw a nice thread for so cal shops in general, but there were only a couple SD recommendations (and unfortunately not as nicely reviewed as the numerous irvine/LA ones).

the Eibach coilovers are the same as the KW V1

 

Thanx for the feedback--wow i hadn't read anything yet about the PSS9s being too high--do you know what the height adjustment range is? (i had searched on the Bilstein website and I didn't see one posted..) Yeah over and over i see reviews that the bilsteins feel awesome without entirely killing the ride comfort.

(I remember seein ur sn on many of the very informative reviews i read) And I've narrowed down my goals and budget (ideally under 2k installed)--My friend said he could get the Tein Flex for 1750 but im still waiting to hear the prices/labor for the other coilovers. And wow i didnt realize the bilsteins were cheaper than the teins (some website listed them at 2100). Thanks again for ur help--as u can tell im a newbie :P

 

are they twin tube or mono tube?
