Review on Hawk DTC-70 and -60 pads
I thought i would share my experience with my recent purchase of
a set of competition pads from Hawk. I was worried at first about the
drive home from the shop- i figured they would not work at all or very
little until they were up to operating temperatures- i was wrong, they
actually stop very well in normal driving and get ridiculously good on the
track. They make a ton of dust, which most race pads do and are kinda
noisy-but much less than a previous lapping day pad i purchased before.
To further describe the performance is as follows: in the past i had the
Nismo R-tune pads when i ran at Sebring-they were 1/2 left in front when
i got there and wore out by lunch, they had terrible fade resistance
and poor bite-worked good for auto-x and street driving with very little
dust but would never buy again for the track(my fault for trying to use
one pad for double duty)
when i used the Hawk pads this weekend i got a seperate set of rotors
to go with them so they would be bed in together. When coming into
the braking zones before i could not stop in time for turn in-i would
stomp my foot to the ground before the first brake cone at 110mph
and had to go into the runoff zone-had to resort to letting off brake
early and coasting then hitting the brake.
now i could hit 122-123mph in the same area and hit the brake at
the 2nd to last brake cone and still could have broke later-i was
stopping short and would have to reaccel and brake again and then
turn in-i tried braking later once but my tires are at the limit of grip
and break loose because the brakes are so strong-need to upgrade
to r-comps now-i ran about 120 miles of laps on the track at full
speed all day-no fade and the pads barely even wore down-very happy
with my purchase.
price was decent too. i paid almost $300 shipped for my Nismo pads
and i paid $347 shipped for these.

He is running Brembo brakes. He ordered them from www.rotorsandpads.com
I use these and recomended them to 2fast. I can second his recomendation. I will never use another pad as long as these are made. They are great cold on the street, and when they get hot they are insane. I use a 275/35/18 front R compound Toyo R888 and the braking is extreme. My car is 3280lbs and I have 565 whp and I have to brace myself with my leg on the deadpedal when I threshold brake or I will slide foward in my seat. I have a Stoptech 355mm 4piston front brake setup with the OEM brembo Rears. DT-70 front / DT-60 rear pads. The pads are also gentle on the rotors.

update on these pads-either i am driving too hard or need more upgrades because i cooked these pads on my December event at Sebring. My first
event with these pads worked great-no problems all day long after about 120-130 miles of driving on the track(day got cut short due to rain) i went
this event and near the end of the day i pitted in after my usual stint of about 9-10 laps and the p-side front pad was smoldering and light smoke
was coming from the wheel-stopped about 1-2 minutes later. My mechanic and i removed my track rotors and pads the next day and reinstalled my street stuff and inspected them-the front pads were
crumbling and the rotors were severely heat cracked.
i am already considering some brake cooling ducts and doing some more
weight savings to help create less heat-these pads are rated to 1400
degrees so they are already pretty tough-i have seen only a couple of
brands with higher ratings but they have much higher expense.

Rotors used with Hawk DTC-70 pads
Curious to know what rotors you (anyone) is using with Hawk DTC-70 pads??
What rotor(s) would be recommended? street and track, brembo.
