Default Forgot to Put Brake Shims Back On - Big Deal?

So I'm a genius and did my brakes and realized I didn't put the thin metal shims on the new pads. I don't really understand their purpose so I don't know if this is an emergency situation or if I should not even bother putting them back on till the next time I do brakes. What do you guys think?

do what you want...typically those shims prevent things like Rattles, squeals, and other misc. noises.

If it were me I'd tear back into it, and do the job correctly.

Emergency? no. but do it anyway....it will likely save you some heartache later down the road....the brakes won't fail or anything entertaining like that.

Not an emergency, you might get some extra squealing or rattling.

I forgot to put them on when I upgraded my brakes about a year ago, no issues, and only a little squeal (hardly noticeable, almost never happens), but then again I'm on EBC Redstuff pads which may squeal on their own.

I just put them in a zip lock bag and will put them back on next time I change pads. Not that big of a deal.

Thanks guys. I'll just toss them back on next time I take my wheels off.

^cool! Either way you'll be fine, the brakes still work as intended. Though I haven't tracked my car with these brakes yet, so take that for what it's worth if you intend on tracking.

If you use brake quiet behind the pad where they make contct with the pistons it will prevent the squeling
