Rear pads worn to nothing, fronts at more than 50%...Why?
i believe on the later models, 06+ they started using the 2 piston larger caliper brakes in the front so i figure larger brake pads in the front than the rear would cause the rears to wear quicker.
I just had mine checked on an 06 and the rears were pretty much shot but have probably over 50% pad left in the front........ (30k miles on the car)

i noticed that my rear pads went faster than the fronts as well. hell i had to buy new rear rotors too. as much as i love the z the brakes and suspension have been the biggest problems that i have had. oh,well im still rollin in style
Yep...same problem here. I went metal to metal in the rear at my first track event. Everyone at the track was amazed that it happened, and told me to have it checked out.
Then after reading several posts on here...it seems to be a common problem for everyone.
So I just watch it like a hawk...and upgraded to HP+'s after getting the Wilwood Fronts.

I don't think it's a rear bias issue, more a "rear pad smaller than a postage stamp" issue.
BTW on a car without VDC but with TC, TC will still lock the rear wheel that is slipping thus using the rear brakes.

A little OT but my '97 Nissan 5 speed truck (2WD 4 banger) has 136,000 miles on it and I bought the truck new. The front brakes were replaced about 4 or 5 years ago at around 90,000 miles or so. When I had new tires put on last month, they checked the brakes and the fronts are almost ready to go out again (soon).
I have never had the rears (drum brakes) replaced and they said the rears are fine. 136,000 miles on the rear brakes and still going, wow. Probably in my case because I don't haul anything of great weight in the back and maybe a few other reasons like weight bias of the thing (heavier front light rear)
