Default Hard breaking = VDC + Sliplight ON?

Had this happen before my Z was put away for winter. Was on my way down to Northern Virginia and this happened twice!

First when coming to a complete stop at an intersection, the Z right before stopping completely "slipped" like the feel you get when u stop on say a gravel road or a very slick surface. Then both VDC and SLIP lights were on and stayed on till pulling over and shutting the car off.

Second time happened when a car in front decided to nail there brakes and I mashed the pedal good. Both lights came on.

Did some searching on the forums and couldn't find the answer. I have a '04.5 MT with '06 GT Rays re050a with 45% front 25% rear tread 35psi, Hawk pads around 15k on them and Racing brake rotors. Stainless lines all around with Motul fliud. Brake fluid reservoir is in between min and max.

Try filling your break fluid up close to max.

I had a similar experience on a recent track day. I wore my pads enough to suck thru half of my brake fluid reservoir by the last lapping session. Once I put more fluid in the lights went out. Apparently, half way between min and max is enough to turn the VDC and SLIP light on.

Will def try this! I called the stealership a while back just to see what they would say beyond "bring it in to us so we can make your wallet lighter" and they said it might be do to something similar to this. They said that with the pads wearing more fluid needed to be pushed to the pistons than when the pads had full life the res never moved much. Is this the same idea?

You got the right idea.

The service manual says those lights come on due to "excessive wear". I guess the computer reads 1/2 a resevoir of fluid as "u used up a helluva lot of brake pad."

I wouldn't put it past the stealership would play dumb and run their diagnostic tests even tho they knew u just needed brake fluid.

Also, it might not be a bad idea to check your brake pad thickness if you haven't already.

So I suppose we will not be able to figure this out until spring.

^ lol

sorry to thread jack but I got a similar problem.

When I get hard on the brakes and press in the clutch I feel like fluid is getting stuck. Like a line is pinched and is getting clogged but squirting threw. Its a weird noise but only happens when I press the brakes and down shift or just pressing the clutch in. Almost like the cars getting confused on what to do. Brakes seem like they are stills tough. All fluids are good. Really annoying when I'm practicing "heal toe." Been doing this in a small canyon by my aunts.
