Default Help Me Choose! Bilstein-HKS-Cusco

Hey guys i need some opinions to help a very indecisive guy make up his mind on a suspension setup. I have read about everything from Tokico to KW to Zeal. I took budget and what i use the car for into account and narrowed it down to these.

Bilstein PSS10 $1600 (worried they may be to soft for aggressive driving)

HKS Hipermax III $2000

Cusco Zero-2 $1800

HKS RS II $1100 used (Cheapest, seems like a good compromise between the setups above. Dont really want used suspension though and there $1600 New)

My car is a daily driver (not in winter) never tracked (no tracks around) i don't autocross. I live in a mountainous area so there's plenty of turns, hairpins, dips, bumps etc. The roads are pretty smooth for the most part (not to many potholes, broken pavement). I do take the car on touge runs (often) and push the car pretty hard. I also like to occasionally drift (not very good at it).

What should i get?!?

Since you don't go to the track and the car will never see R Compound tires I would go with the Bilsteins. Arguably the highest quality of manufacture and components and best ride quality.

I agree, go with Bilstein. It will be the smoothest out of all of them, and still provide some stiffness over stock. No sense in going with a stiff coilover setup if all you are going to do is DD it.

if you dont track it. and want a comfortable ride. you should just stick to dampening adjustable shocks and eibach or hotchkis springs.

cheapest and probably one of the more comfortable solutions.

At first i was going to do just the dampers and spring combo but tossed that idea. I want a setup that'll gain me more performance even if it just on the streets. Im leaning towards Bilstein and HKS RS right now the other two seem like a bit overkill for me and priced higher.

HKS RS were discontinued a long long time ago

$1100 used...I dont want to step on any toes, so I'll reserve comments on that one (unless they are in like as new condition)

I believe the 350Z that won the SCC Ultimate Street Car Challenge a few years ago (The M Works car I think it was) had Eibach springs and Koni shocks I believe. Either way, it was just a spring/shock combo. Don't discount spring/shock combos as not being good enough.

The Bilstein's can be modified and revalved in the future if you move somewhere where there is a track or have enough money to just make the trek.

Or at the very least, the resale value of the Bilstein's will probably be higher than most options out there.

I love my KW V3s

I talked to adding between the Bilstein, KW V3s, and Cuscos and he felt that the KWs would be for me.

Sure thing, I love them... Comfortable on the street yet it feels great on the turns.

Yeah i knew the RS's were discontinued, but ive heard good things about them, they sound like they behave alot like the bilsteins, street/occasional track. $1100 to much?

The Koni's only have rebound adjustment, cant adjust height without changing springs, and dont do well with springs that lower to much because of damper travel. I was considering these before.

No KW's for me either, I hear there great and very comfortable but i want monotube construction with Linear springs.

If you don't race then who cares how they are constructed? You'll probably never notice the difference.
