Default noise from rear struts after coilover installation

I just installed the KW V2 a while ago and there's some kinda weird noise coming from the rear from inside the car. It's like a squeak / hydraulic noise when I go over bumps (any kind of bumps on the road). Kinda resembles the noise from the hatch when u open and move it up and down, but i ruled that out by listening closer and it's definitely from somewhere in the strut tower.

Thought it was a loose top locknut on the strut and those metal washer-like parts moving around on the shaft of the strut. But I took out one of the strut and tightened it even further to my ability, still squeaks... can't tell how much torque i'm applying w/ my hands cus I can't tighten it w/ a torque wrench; the shaft spins so I have to use a vice clamp to hold it and tighten w/ an open wrench.

Also, there's no noise when the car's stationary and I press down on the rear.

Anyone got this problem before? I searched and found that it can be some welds coming undone, but I'd believe that'd be more like a metal tapping noise instead.

Got some tanabe coilovers and I get that noise too, like a hydolic sloshing sound.I'm pretty sure its the shocks themselves and you're not the only one,try searching.

All coilovers will make some kind of noise. its the nature of a coilover. solid mounting points=more noise transmission

doesnt matter, you are using a shock design that is using less plastic material which translates to more noise transmission from the moving components of the suspension.

this question always comes up whenever someone puts on coilovers and expects it to be quiet as stock.

Dont worry your not alone. My Stance coilovers love talking to me while i cruise over shitty roads at low speeds.

does replacing the shocks make a difference? The reason I ask is that, there weren't no noise when they were first installed. It only recently got worst. Does aftermarket springs have unlimited life? Or do they have to be replaced sooner or later?

When you go over bumps, your shock pistons try to travel a large distance in a short time. To deal with the quick increase in shaft velocity and fluid displacement, your shock has a "blow by" valve which opens to allow some of that fluid to pass. This creates a more linear damping curve (good).

The sound of fluid traveling through that valve is what you are hearing.

I'm having a similar problem with my stance's that I just installed, but that noise is only coming from one corner (rear passenger...) do you think the top nut could be loose or something else could possibly be causing it?

^ on coilovers? or stock suspension. I didn't have any sound in stock suspension. I thought it's the top nut at first but I've checked it a few times. Mine sounds like hydraulics (especially when turning into driveway at an angle) and learned to live w/ it.

mine's only over large bumps, it doesn't make a peep over normal wavy roads.
