I dont know whats going on. If im turning left at all and hit the brakes the ABS on the front pass. side wheel kicks in and the car goes crazy...with the VDC on..turning to the left without hitting the brakes kicks it on. What could this be? Its only when turning left and its only the front right wheel. When turning to the right the car turns completely fine....no ABS kicking in..nothing..even with the VDC on....can anyone explain this?

This is just a guess, but could your steering wheel angle sensor not be centered? The VDC takes input from the steering angle sensor.

With the Nissan CONSULT tool, it takes 1 minute to re-center it. Unfortunately, if you don't have the tool, your dealership will probably charge you an hour of labor to center it, and this may not even be the problem.

Well, it also does it with the VDC off...when taking a left turn with it on it kicks on..if vdc is off the abs still goes on when braking around a left turn..

Thumbs up

How worn are your tires? If the tread depth difference between the front and rear set is enough the ABS will trip. When turning left only? Maybe you take many more right turns then lefts and this has worn the left tire more. My guess is that this issue will get worse and then turning right will trip the ABS. I noticed a similar issue with my car, ABS going off in corners with no braking, highly annoying and dangerous. New rear tires completely cured this behavior.

I believe the VDC function operates separately from the ABS system, so VDC off vs on is a moot point in this case. Check those tires!

I completely agree with mthreat. If you did any kind of install recently that you undid the steering knuckle, then there is no doubt in my mind that the steering wheel probably got spun too many times. You can undo it and try to spin it back one way or the other or you can hook up the consult to it.

Good luck bro

P.S. You can go to your local Nissan dealer and walk into the service area, and just ask a tech to help you out for some cash. Most will be glad to put an extra 50 in there pocket.

If you were near Austin, you could go by Uprev and they would probably reset your steering angle sensor for free.

In any case, please post a follow-up when you figure out the problem & solution. thanks
