If it is the end link, it will happen during movement of the sway bar.
If it is the strut, during compression/rebound.
If it has something to do with the wheel bearing, rotor, or caliper, it will do it on revolutions of the hub.
Makes perfect sense. The sound is definitely independent of side to side / up to down motion, and as I said it is periodic with the rotation of the wheel.
I kept my ear open for it today and didn't really hear the 'squeak' sound, although I swear I hear a constant metal on metal "hiss" as I'm driving along next to a barrier or something that will reflect the sound. That brings me back to the possibility that it might be a brake pad hanging/rubbing on the rotor - but then that doesn't really explain the periodic 'squeak' at low speeds.
I'm also wondering if temperature and/or humidity will affect it. On a rainy and humid night a couple months back I was parked in a parking garage and when I pulled out of the spot and started rolling (brakes not applied) there was a very audible 'squeak' that seemed to happen once every wheel revolution. I heard it so well because of the reverberations in the parking garage. At the time I thought it might be my e-brake hanging up or something, but now I know it's definitely coming from front passenger side wheel.
