***Bump***

Its time to do the dirty and get this done. I am eyeing the Autozone duralast ball joint replacements. How do these holdup? I am planning on autocrossing the car. Thanks

I go through the trouble of replacing all of the suspension & subframe bushings and now my ball joint boots are torn. Doh!

Dont know about the AutoZone ball joints but they have a lifetime warranty on them. I got some movotech or something like that, no opinion on them yet because I haven't put them on the car yet.

But I did press some out last week.

The dealer wants $1800-$2000 to resolve this.

Can anyone confirm that the ball joints are interchangeable between the earlier cars and the later cars? My search on this site says otherwise but I find it hard to believe that Nissan changed the ball joints, tie rods, and spindle from 2005 onward. My car is an 07 BTW!

i ordered some ball joints that said they would work for an 08, and the shaft was too thin and too short... i think z1 has different ones for the years

^ Yeah, the BJ replacement is a DIY, but you may need some serious muscle to get the old ones out. I went with the Mevotech Supreme off Rock Auto... I regularly AX my car about twice a month, as well. I'll have to check mine next time I'm under it... It's currently covered in a couple inches of snow.

I'd be interested in how those mevotech ball joints have held up. They seem nice for the price, and at least they tossed a greese fitting inside.

Z1 offers different ball joints for different year's.

I've been on the AutoZone ball joints for 3 years now and they've been great. They even said made in Japan on them so I suspect it's from the OEM supplier or close to it. I mainly use the car for daily driving with occasional autox. On the other hand I tried ball joints off eBay made in China and the dust boots tore within a year.

I went with z1motorsport ball joints.
They came with new oem seats.
The ball joints themselves looked very strong and well engineered.

Those are the ones I used, they worked fine, I think I reused the stock nut though because that castle nut seemed shitty.

Ball joint thread revival!

I have an HR now and its got blown ball joint dust covers. Both sides! Been shopping around to replace them and can't decide which to go with between Mevotech, the one from Z1, and Duralast. If anyone with any of these ball joints is reading this, can y'all check in and give an update on how your ball joints are holding up, please? Thanks a bunch!

Edit: Scratch the Duralast. They have the same part # (BJL148) for both 03/04 and 05+. I'm going to assume it won't fit the HR.
