Default What is this piece attached to the steering knuckle?

I replaced my steering knuckle due to a wreck several months ago. During the process I neglected to reinstall a piece that was attached to the rear facing side of the knuckle. The part doesn't appear to have any purpose from what I can see. Does anyone know what the heck this piece is for?

This is the piece on the other side that is still attached.

This is the side where the part is missing...

This is where the piece is supposed to attach on the knuckle.

Nissan refers to the piece as the steering stopper bracket. Does it limit front wheel left right turn?

Yeah, you should put that back on. It is your steering limiter. It keeps your wheels from turning to far in the wheel wells and damaging parts, either to the wheel well or steering linkage.
