Default S-tech settlement

This is what I get for lying to myself I searched the forums inside and out and came to a conclusion that S-techs were the springs for me. I saw settled pix with springmount mods and they looked great!

The springmounts took care of the wheel gap on the rear but the front doesn't look lowered at all. I kept saying to myself once they settle it will go away and etc, etc...

Does this look fully settled to you? Its the angle i took the picture but from a leveled view there still a good gap on the fronts.

UPDATES:9/11/09

My driver side front sits about 1/2" higher than my passenger side. So from profile view the fronts now sits higher than the rear!

i read couple threads about heights not always being the same left to right because of independent suspension but 1/2"????? There goes the drop the s-techs provide.

Could it be that the top hat was not tightened enough??? I dont get any noise from it and when i visually inspect, everything is tight.

Is it possible to "try" to tighten the 17mm bolt on the top while its on the car???

PLEASE HELP~

UPDATE 9/26/09:

Hoping the springs would settle a bit more here are some final measurement for the fronts only. Measured from ground to fender.

Driver side 673.1mm
Pass. side 666.75mm

OEM is 683mm, so passenger side lower to advertised 17mm drop, the driver side only 10mm. I mean 7mm is not a lot but on the actual car it makes a huge difference. I'm being **** but isn't everyone?

Would the upper rubber mount or something not make it sit right? Should i bother re-installing the driver side?

Measurement where measured in the flattest pavement possible. I took measurements in various locations and got the same figures.

yup, looks about what mine is at after 3 weeks, I didnt do the spring mount mod though, I prefer to keep the rake, not that it really makes a difference, but I like the stance better with the rake

Already has 20MM Front and 25MM Rear and I'm having rubbing issues at the rear at the moment even with fenders rolled (camber not to spec)

Remember, S-Techs lower the car less than an inch. In your pic, you can tell the car is lowered....on S-techs.

Yes...the s-tech is a little drop on an already low car.

I would like alittle lower as well, but im not a fan of ripping up my FRP kits.

lowering the car more than that on springs is compromising any semblence of handling that the car may have had, especially on early struts, like your car has. If the car is already rubbing now, lowering more isn't going to help. Go compare your car to a stock Z - you'll see it does in fact look lowered. Get the alignment issues solved, and if you want it lower, then the proper route is coilovers

I just put on S-techs around 3 weeks ago myself, and I feel like my car is almost too low. Lowering it much more than what the S-techs provides will make it more difficult to be a daily driver but if you got another ride, do it up!

Don't bother with the 17mm bolt at the piston shaft/upper shock mount, it would rattle really bad if it's ever not tightened, you'd know trust me. It's not uncommon for these car's to have a uneven drop as noted.

What if the rear upper spring seats that you cut, weren't cut evenly?

Did you install front camber arms with the spring install or make a adjustment to arms you already had installed?

When you tightened the rear toe cam bolts after wrapping up the spring install, did you make sure that both spring buckets were the same height as each other?

Has the car been aligned since the spring install?

the spring mount were machine cut and were done as straight as possible and measured before remounting them. Im sure there was slight micro mm difference but could not have been detected by human eye.

I didn't install front camber arms.re-used stock. The car has been aligned and toe and camber came back to spec. Well the rears were at -2.0 camber.

1. make sure the ground you are taking these measurements on is 100% level. If it's not, you won't be measuring anything with any grade of accuracy

2. were you sure your shocks are in good shape, and fully rebounding before you installed your springs - did you compare their length side to side after taking the OEM spring off? If you have one side that is wearing, or worn, and is pre-compressed, that will also lead to an uneven ride height

I honestly didn't check if the shocks were good or not the oem shocks and the car have less than 15k miles on them but i'm sure they can go bad prematurely.

But during the install i noticed no abnormality of the shocks compression and rebound.

perfectly normal to get a difference from one side to another. The car doesn't carry the same weight left to right, as such, the car won't sit exactly the same left to right either, unless you get coilovers. If the mount wasn't installed correctly, you would know it...it would make noise
