Default steel braided brake lines + oem brakes good?

hey guys,

i need to get my brakes replaced, i was wondering if i get the steel braided brake lines + oem brakes (can't afford big brake kits lol).. will it make a difference in braking? since the braids won't expand i should feel a difference correct? would there be a difference in braking distance?

i am thinking of buying Z1 brake lines

thanks in advance

get hawk break pads + the steel break lines and you will feel a big difference.

would you recommend crossdrilled rotors? or oem's would do?

are Z1 lines good enough or will another brand be better?

thanks

I got stainless steel braided lines because a lot of people claimed they made a huge difference. I can't even honestly say if I felt a difference or not...and the fluid was even properly flushed and switched with motul.

+1. When I installed my stainless lines, and as one would expect after a brake job (new pads, rotors, SS lines, fresh fluid flush) I felt a solid, firmer brake pedal. I can't honestly attribute this to the SS lines though.

I'd say if you've got track time in your future it's probably worth the upgrade, but if you're just street driving definitely not worth the time IMO. If anything you'll notice an improvement in braking modulation. I'd challenge anyone who says you're going to see shorter stopping distances as a result of SS lines alone to prove it.

Any brand lines from a reputable manufacturer should be fine, and for rotors I would recommend blank rotors (not slotted or drilled) if you can find them (try Centric premium blanks).

Stainless lines do make a difference but I found out recently that bleeding the lines and replacing the fluid made a HUGE difference in my pedal feel. Stainless lines are like $75 and worth it IMO.

OEM rotors are fine but I'd recommend Hawk HPS pads as well. Much better. But if you need rotors check out something like SP slotteds. I got new SP slotted rotors + Hawk pads all-around for something like $350 OTD from Dynamic Autosports in Lake Forest. A local dealer wanted $450 for just 1 OEM rotor alone. This was for an Evo but the concept is the same.

i got my slotted drilled premium rotors from R1 comcepts, there is no need to get the slotted drilled rotors its just for looks, just get the slotted ones you'll be fine

SS lines are more for pedal feel and consistency. Rubber line get fatigue by heat and expand. SS line don't so it will have better pedal feel and fade resistance than rubber lines. I don't think it suppose to make you stop better. That job is for the tires.

For those who track, SS lines will make a big difference. Especially when the brake fluid heats up.
