Default Jack stand position

First off yes i have searched but didnt get what i was looking for.

I need to put my car on jack stands but cant put them on the factory jack points because it will smash the sideskirts with the jack stands i have. Can someone please direct me in the spot as to where else I can put the jack stands. Please try to provide specific pictures as to where because it will make things so much easier. Thanks in advanced

My only gripe with the pic that DAVIDV posted is this...

look at the top left red circle - (i.e. passenger side front)

those right next to there are the fuel lines......careful to get the false unibody frame and not hit those lines.......friend of mine had a shop lift his car up with a two post lift just like that picture......as soon as it went up we saw they crushed his lines because the "pad" of the lift arm was on the fuel lines..

oh and since thats not an intended jacking point, i would use a blank of wood to spread out the load, as that point will crush in since its just a false unibody frame like section of the car...

if you search the terms (google, not here) pinch rail jack pad, you'll find lots of adapters and DIY write ups. It's absolutely ridiculous that retail doesnt have anything for most unibody cars.. The jacks and stands at Pepboys, Sears, Autozone and so on, probably cover 20% of the cars on the road. When's the last time you used a U stand on an AXLE? Well, for me it was last month on our Pathfinder, but thats not the point..

You've probably already collected stands and jacks. If you are buying all new and have have a thick wallet, you can get some perfect solutions. If you want to use what you have an minimize the damage, you can try these

they do pretty well in preventing gouging. There's no way around very carefully positioning them so the dont damage your side skirts.

Then again, you can always use the points above. I know shops all use that frame rail. So, it has to be acceptable. But I know its not the proper place to put the load, so I've always used the frame rails.
