Brake Sounds : (
To give a little background information the car is a 2003 Track Model so it has the brembo brakes. I noticed that there is an intermittant grinding sound that just started happening. I also know that the pads are very low as the dealership said that I should get them changed in the next 5k miles. I looked around the calipers and felt them and I don't notice any groove marks. There is no etching on them as if they started grinding into them or something.
I have brake pads on the order and am going to swap them out monday and am not driving the car until I change them.
My question is do you guys think that the calipers are messed up or something? Like I heard they built a safety mechanism into them that will make a weird sound to let you know that they need to be changed. Any help would be wonderful I will be checking this forum off and on tonight but alot.

There is no inspection window in the Brembo calliper, so you cannot see the pad. The noise made by the wear sensor to rotor is distinctive - easy to recognise.
How do you know when a rotor must replaced? You measure the thickness.

Thanks for the help. I know that sometimes the rotors need to be replaced even if they are a 10th of a milimeter out of spec...I was thinking about just swapping the pads...like whats the worst that could happen? I was thinking it might wear the pads a little faster than normal. I'm find with that right now until I can get high performance rotors.

run out
and wear deviations
but most members just go with thickness.
I always wondered. I just kinda feel like sometimes I'm getting robbed when they replace all the rotors when they look fine and I wasn't hard on them. I'm gonna try just re-installing the pads and hoping nothing happens
