Default Brake Rebuild In My Future??? QUESTION

Hey guys,

I picked up a set of stock brembos about half a year ago and I am starting to notice that when I brake, it is making me want to turn right. In fact, if I let go of the steering wheel and brake, the wheel will turn sharply to the right...Which makes me wonder if one of calipers is in need of a rebuild or if all of them are. It has been doing it more and more since winter began. Is this a sign that I am going to need to rebuild my calipers?

Thanks in advance!

-Brandon

is that the problem? Its only when I brake that this problem happens.

Your left brake doesn't work? Something preventing the pad from contacting the rotor? Hit the brakes with the wheel in the air and see if you can spin it.. Remove the wheel and the pads and take a look in there. check the line, check your fluid, check the rotor, check your pads..??

Imo -> That basically means that your right caliper is grabbing harder than your left, so there's gotta be something there. Have you gone over them and checked everything as was previously mentioned? Might be something in the left line.

Also, I would check the suspension bolts as well just as a thought.

I'm no expert; just my 2 cents.

yea i recently bled my brakes and ive done it twice before, the lines were fine, and the problem has been there even before I bled them...so bleeding them didnt help...

so could this be an alignment issue? or would I need to rebuild a caliper?

yes it does seem to be grabbing harder on the right side btw.

thanks for the help

An alignment *might* cause something kinda similar to this...maybe. I've never had an alignment bad enough to tell. But if it was the alignment, you'd be turning even without hitting the brakes.

Remember to check out the suspension bolts though. Those can cause some weird-*** things if they're loose (or even out). I drove my Celica when I first bought it from NJ to Ohio without a lower strut bolt...

The next step I would take is to look at the calipers, yes. Beyond that I can't help you much because I've never owned Brembos nor rebuilt a caliper.

Edit: Quick way to tell if it's your alignment: When you're on the highway make sure there's nobody near you and let go of the steering wheel(but keep your hands ready to grab it). If the car goes straight, or really close to it, it's not your alignment. Btw I don't take responsibility for you nailing something if you do that, lol.

^^^ ok, great info...thanks

i do need to get an alignment, i hit a bad bump a few weeks ago and it threw it off...didn't know it may effect my braking but this could be the problem, so i will see if that's it.

Thanks!
