I got an alignment done and it didnt make a differrence. Someone suggested that i may have a flat spot in one of the tires...does this sound likely???
K, if you didn't mean to thread jack you sure did a good job trying.

If someone could inform me of what the original tires were in the car...were any of them the Cooper Zeons or the Potenza RE040?

I can live with the issue, but as great as this car is I'd like to enjoy it for all its worth.

Did you ever get it sorted out?

I read through and saw the terms "howling and vibration" and was surprised no one mentioned checking the wheel bearings. I really wouldn't suspect them for the vibration alone but if its previously had howling complaints it worth taking the time to check.

Thought I'd bring this back from the dead - I started this thread and never posted the resolution.

The vibration ended up being a bad wheel bearing. I took it to three shops that I know. Every suggestion but the appropriate one was thrown out there - I coulda spent a fortune trying to fix this. Finally I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it in 5 minutes. $325 total to replace w/ labor.
