Default H&R Coilover Install Help

Hey guys... I turn to the power of the intertubes to solve an install problem I ran into today.

I am installing a set of used H&R coilovers in place of stock components. There were no instructions provided with kit, and the H&R website does not have an archive for manuals that I could find.

H&R kits reuse stock pieces for the upper mounts. After taking off the stock upper mounts for the rear shocks and transferring them over to the H&R shocks, I notice that the bumpstop/dustshield slides all the way down the shaft. The stock shock had a bushing that prevented the bumpstop from sliding down.

The bushing on the stock shock is pressed on, and the diameter of the H&R shock shaft is slightly larger, so even if I got the bushing off (which I couldn't), I don't think it would fit the new shocks.

So based upon that, I have the following questions:

  1. Should the H&R shocks have bushings in the rear? I know they do for the front, and my fronts are no problem (that I know of, yet).
  2. Is it any big deal to have the bumpstops resting on top of the shock instead of attached to the top of the upper mounts?
  3. One possible solution I thought of was to somehow silicone/glue the bumpstop to the "cup" washer that is above it, since it will not slide down. Can anyone foresee any problems with that approach?
  4. I have actually left the bumpstop off, since the last post in this thread (https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...-reviewed.html) mentions that as a solution. Is that an acceptable solution, or am I doomed?
  5. Anyone have a scan of the install instructions for these?
I have not finished the install yet, and will tackle the fronts in the morning, but if I can get an answer to this while the car is still on jackstands, it would be easy for me to pull the rear shocks and implement a solution.

I have PM'd seller (and the guy HE bought them from) with no luck yet, but I really didn't expect any kind of instant response from them.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You transfer the bushing if you want to use the bump stop. I am not using the bump stop and it's been great, I'm not slammed though and would recommend the bumpstop if you plan on slamming it.

Here is my car.
