Default Anybody have their rear sway bar bracket break off?

I'm surprised the bracket for the rear sway bar broke first instead of the end link. I drove home from a day at the track and found this while changing my oil..

check it out...

did you feel or hear when it happened? Surprised you didnt feel a change in the way the car handled plus hear it clanking around.

Well... you would think that the small endlinks would break first.... makes me wonder if upgrading endlinks is even worth it as you are only as strong as your weekest link.

weird thing is, i'm not sure when it broke off. my last session at the track didn't feel different so i'm thinking it broke off on my way back home. they're oem endlinks with 350evo sway.

this was my second time at the track but this time it was more high speed and aggressive.

exact same thing happen to me. Hotchkis sway on the max setting and I forget the endlinks I have (aftermarket). I would send you my picture but it broke exactall in the same place as yours. I am getting under the car to replace today. Only 18$ from Nissan for a new bracket.

Both of my brackets broke on separate occasions. Waiting for the weather to get warmer before replacing. My guess is that the stock endlinks introduce stress to the brackets when adjustable sway bars are used. Hopefully, adjustable endlinks will solve the problem.

try the powergrid endlinks. fully adjustable and not expensive

Same thing happened to me on both brackets. Running Hotchkis on stiffest setting. Had to replace the endlinks as well since the rubber portion got damaged from rubbing on the axle.

This is strangely comforting to know that there are people out there experiencing this same problem. I too have had both brackets break on me. I noticed that when I hit a dip or bump at speed, the car would jerk violently sideways as if getting ready to lose control. Scary feeling. Is there a company out there that make stronger brackets? I currently am just buying OEM brackets. They are only $12 bucks for me at the dealership. I would like for some beefier ones so that support some "spirited" driving at times.

AHH..so now we find that the *weakest link* isn't the link!
I wouldn't think it would be..even the stock later model links are pretty beefy.
If the brackets aren't fully torqued down, they will move and eventually break.
Tracking the car would require checking them frequently.

Yeah..saw that too. That'll certainly add stress..but still points to brackets as weak point.

Ive just had my right rear bracket break again for the 2nd time with 95k on the clock. Ive broken the rear endlink once. i have the hotchkis swaybar set one side at soft and the other at mid (hotchkis said it would be fine before i set it that way)so im curious as to why its breaking. Running a quaife diff with occasional track days and autox. I heard clunking and creaking all day in the rear on random bumps. finally there was a loud bang while going over a speed bump this evening. Thank god it was in a parking lot and not on the freeway.

Im fairly spirited when taking the turns through the mountains here but these brackets breaking are making me think twice. Anyone have any experience with breakage in a fast corner? I cant seem to find an aftermarket beefier replacement.
