Question Can Stoptech bbk made for 03-05 Z fit 07-08?

I'm planning to get these used Stoptech ST-40 Kit from a 03 350Z (non-brembo) for my 08 350Z (non-brembo).

83.646.4600 350Z except Track Model 2003-2005 Front 332mm x 32mm

83.646.0023 350Z except Track Model 2003-2005 Rear 328mm x 28mm

According to Stoptech, the kit is different between 350z year and model.

http://www.raceshopper.com/stoptech_...ake_kits.shtml

Do I just need a different bracket to fit 08 350z (non-brembo)?

Has anyone done this already?

Please help out. Thanks.

considering 08 brakes are the same as 06 brakes, brembo brakes are all the same and the suspension hasn't changed since 03. I would bet they will fit.

they will fit, however if you were to buy a kit for one axle the bias would be off.

since you are planning to purchase both axles, you should be good.

I'm confused because it shows that 03-05 350z (non-brembo) kit is listed with different model #

83.646.4600 350Z except Track Model 2003-2005 Front 332mm x 32mm

83.646.0023 350Z except Track Model 2003-2005 Rear 328mm x 28mm

And for 06-08 350Z

83.657.4600 350Z except Track Model 2006-2007 Front 332mm x 32mm

83.657.0023 350Z except Track Model 2006-2007 Rear 328mm x 28mm

Are you guys sure that these will fit? Thanks in advance.

its kind of confusing, but really simple at the same time.

stoptech makes properly balanced kits no matter what combo you choose(stoptech fronts/stock rears, etc). since different years/models have different brake specs, then the calipers that stoptech offers will differ. for instance(hypothetically speaking) the front st40 355x32 for an 05 base might have 22mm pistons where as the same kit for an 05 track might have 24mm pistons.

as long as the stoptech kits you are buying are for the same model then it doesn't matter. now if you have fronts for an 05 track and rears for an 06 base then you will run into bias issues. also if you have a front kit for an 03 track but have it on your 06 base with stock rears then you will have bias issues.

the kits are given part numbers to reflect the difference in piston sizing.

Excellent explanation!
I had this exact argument with someone on here selling a stoptech kit that kept insisting that they did not in fact make a difference. I just wasn't sure how the biasing was controlled between 03-05 and 06-08 stoptech models.

I would not recommend the installation of an 03-05 kit onto your 08, even though it is the 4 wheel kit. While it is balanced from front to rear on the 06+ models, there is still the issue relating the major differences between the braking systems as a whole when they made the changes in 06. The piston sizes in the 03-05 kits are much smaller than those in the 06+ kits due the change in the master cylinder. The front kit alone will have less than 80% of the stock front brake output while the rear kit will only have 90% of the stock output. By comparison, the bias adjustments we make with the 06+ specific kit are more like 95% of front output, while matching rear stock output. As you can see this is far less output than we feel is ideal and there is more rear bias than we would recommend. Another concern would be ABS and VDC functionality which will likely suffer since the programmed outputs of the ABS pump would not give the expected wheel end results.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll hold off buying these.
