Default wheel stud broke off!!

Hey guys,

Was changing my brake pads tonight and noticed one of the wheel nuts didn't release when I started loosening them. It was turning but I had to apply constant force, instead of the usual initial force and then it gets easier, if you know what I mean.

Anyways, eventually it came out but I noticed half my wheel stud was inside the wheel nut!!

So, either it was seized up and just broke off while I was turning it out, or the shop I changed my tires at a month ago cross threaded it! Very pi$$ed about it right now.

Anyways, 2 questions:

1) Am I ok driving with just 4 wheel studs/nuts for a while? I do a lot of highway driving to work and back.
2) How do I change the wheel stud and where do I get new ones?

Thanks!

listen man, I had noises and vibrations from my rear left wheel when I was missing just 1 lugnut, after it fell off on the highway!

and you wanna drive with one stud missing

be safe please and don't risk your life and lives of others on the road

and yea after something like this happening, I would personally swap out all my studs for peace of mind.

http://www.importpartspro.com/ni35oemrewhs1.html

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=5&catalogid=2

And here is how to change the stud:

Yeah thinking of replacing all 20 studs now! There goes my saturday!!

Do you get better/stronger studs than Nissan or should I just buy new nissan ones?

Also, should I be using copper paste on the wheel studs?

ps: If you really want a vuvuzela I will mail you one dude!

4 lug nuts is safe unless the wheel falls off.

Maybe the shop you took it too used an impact gun to torque the lug nuts and made them too tight. Get that fixed asap..

Yeah I think the shop I did tyres at overtightened it big time!

But, just incase the d@mn studs are getting weak I don't wanna risk highway driving on 4 studs. If another one brakes I'm left with 3!! and if it's the wrong one then I gather the wheel could come off...

pulled the bike out of winter storage and froze my nut$ off coming to work this morning but it's all good.

Gonna replace all the studs (at least on that specific hub for now) this saturday.

THanks for the input guys.
