Default Need Shock/Strut Advice for use with Tein S-techs

I'm on a decent budget, but i don't have enough money for coil-overs/ don't really see a need for them, so I've decided to go with a spring and shock/strut combo. I had originally planned to go with Tein S-techs and Tokico HP Blue's, but after a bit of searching, I'm hearing bad reviews about the tokicos saying that they don't last very long with aftermarket springs. I'm just looking for a stiffer ride, and a bit of improvement in handling, while maintaining a budget of around 500 for the struts. What would you guys recommend?

Tokico D-specs $495 in the link below

D-specs can adjust to softer then any oem Z shock as well as stiffer then any oem Z shock.

Koni's and Bilstein H.D. are your other choices, but well above your $500 budget cap. You could not give me KYB GR-2's, I'd rather find used 05-07 oem shocks then get them.
