There are probably a thousand members here who have upgraded to Brembos or some other BBK and I'd bet less than 10 have done any kind of MC/booster upgrade. I've only seen one thread about doing the upgrade. We're talking about lots of people who track and even race the Z.
I doubt that upgraded brakes would have anything to do with MC failure anyway.
The FSM lists the MC specs.

I'm not aware of any need for an mc change nor of any difference in bore size (and size doesn't make one better or worse than another) in the two cars. Granted I may be wrong on that but unless someone shows me a stock spec sheet I'm believing they are the same size.
While the Wilwood parts might look better (and be happy to help you get one) being of the same size won't change the function. Being of an alternate size won't make it better or worse. And certainly won't assure you of any 'failure' beyond what you have now....unless it's somehow terribly f'd up now; in which case I think you're know.
Which one to use: probably the one you have in the car now and buy a brake kit intended to be used with it and be done with it all.

i have some valid concerns about very high speed braking.
any thoughts on what size mc the r35 has? i've looked quite a bit,
but not found anything as yet.

350Z standard brakes: 1-1/16"
350Z Track model (Brembo): 1-1/16"
370Z (all brake systems): 1"
G35 standard brakes: 1"
G35 Track model (Brembo): 1-1/16"
G37 (exc. Sport brakes): 1" or 15/16" depending on model variant
G37 w/Sport brakes: 1" or 15/16" depending on year
R35 GT-R: 1-1/16"

While only relating to the older car, that's interesting. The goal I suspect would be to have the standard G35 be softer and require less effort thus catering to the "more refined Infiniti driver" (ie. women? older? less sport minded? owners) Yet the Track model immediately goes back to the larger bore for a more firm and responsive formula.
I'd have to suggest that those with big brakes and the smaller bore might prefer the larger model- but expect to have to push a bit harder to make them work.
