Can a strut mount be bad even if it "looks" fine?
I got a HUGE pot hole yesterday and I had this clunking sound coming from the front of the car when I go over irregularities. Thinking that I had a blown strut or strut mount I decided to buy new shocks, springs and bump stops ( I've been wanting to do this for a while anyways ) and I inspected the strut mounts and they looked perfect and both sides looks identical. I put everything back together but the noise is still there. I looked over EVERYTHING in the front suspension and I can't see anything wrong. I even put new sway bar bushings ( one was broken ) and the noise is still there.
I don't know if anyone has had a strut mount go bad even though it looked good. Is it possible?

The upper shock perch is the last thing i would be looking at.
I would first check your front sway bar endlinks/connections and frame mounts, lower shock connection to arm, and main upper shock nut to ensure tightness.
Keep in mind that although all these points may look and feel tight...they still might not be.
