Sufficient yes but it would be much easier if you had an appropriate jack and a set of jack stands. When unbolting the spring perch it is a ton easier to throw the back on stands and use the jack to preload the perch to allow the bolt to slide out. Same concept goes for re-installing the perch with the new spring. You can grab a 1.5 ton jack for like $50 and a pair of stands for $20 and it will make the install a 100x easier.

hmm, I guess I should invest in a floor jack then. I was under the impression that I could place jack stands with the stock jack, and then use the stock jack to push up the spring bucket for the bolts. I guess not. Where would you guys buy a floor jack from? Sears? I went to autozone, and they don't have any for some reason. The only place i can think of that would sell car parts is sears. And 50 dollars sounds pretty cheap to me, usually most members say it costs around 100+...

Near me there is an Ace Hardware that sells a descent Craftsman 2 ton floor jack for $50 but I guess it is relative to your area. Sears has Craftsman tools so I'm sure they would have the same one Ace has.

great news(sarcastic) Yesterday, I went ahead and bought jacks and some proper tools for the coil install. Spent about a hundred bucks and a ton of gas just driving up and down a street looking for Kragen, ace, and autozone. Freakin ace didnt have the tools I needed, nor did they have any jack stands or a floor jack.Came back home, and started the install. Stupid me, I forgot to lube the nuts, and the damn thing wouldnt move at all. So I put everything back on, and today, I went out to buy pb blaster. Sprayed it on, after a few hours, I started working on it again. Guess what, my locking lug nut broke in half, and I can't get it out. WTF!! Where should I go to get this taken car of? And I need to drive to san diego tomorrow night, if I don't get it fixed by then, is it safe to even drive around? Especially on the freeway? Fak, instead of trying to do this install myself and safe some cash, I ended up spending over a hundred on tools, which I probably will never need after this, and now I broke a lug nut. Would have been much much cheaper to just get it professionally installed. wow, never doing this again. Sorry for rant, really pissed.

basically the lug nut I broke is the locking one, and it snapped in half at a diagonal angle. I can take a pic tommorrow. Im assuming its safe to drive around like that, since I drove around today with it broken, only realized it when I tried to take it off and the pieces fell out even before I applied any pressure. Not throwing away my man card, I know I can do the install, its just that i would have spent maybe 50 bucks max to get it installed by a member on here who usually does my installs. But instead, I already spent twice that, and its gonna cost me even more to get that sh it fixed.

can anyone recommend a good tireshop/any place that can help me with the broken lug nut? Looked on yelp for reputable tire shops, but would much rather have z guys opinions/experience with good shops. Don't think I will be going to sd anymore cuz of this :[

installed my coils myself just now. After I installed them, i went for a test drive and they clunk so much. Whever I turn or go over a small bump they clunk like crazy. I had my two friends who know a bit about cars, and they said it is probably because the top hap doesnt sit flush with the rear springs. I didint' think they had room to not fit perfectly, but I might have to check again. Can anyone tell me why they clunk so much based on the coils I have?

Through my experience...
With an OEM placement coilover type for the rear, the lowering it adjusted via threaded collar on the spring. Depending on how much you lower it, the spring itself will have play room within the collar center where it sits. You would have to adjust the shock body up in turn closing the gap between the springs and collars. This will either close the gap enough to where play is minimal or pre-load the springs just enough to there there is zero movement.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, again this is from my experience with Z33 OEM placement coilovers anyways.

Does anyone know where i can buy the 17mm bolt that holds the shock strut? Both of them fell out due to me not installing a nut on the other end. My coils came without any hardware, and I assumed, for some stupid reason, the bolt would stay on without a nut on the other end. The stock strut has a rubber gromet thing that holds the bolt, I just assumed the aftermarket strut didnt require any. Anyways, it fell out while driving, and I need to replace it. Went to ace, kragen, and lowe's. They don't have a 17mm bolt, or even one that would work on the strut. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

this is the 17mm bolt/nut i am talking about, but for a 350z. I saw courtesy nissan has this bolt for 8 dollars each. Price isn't really a concern, but with the thing leaving 2-4 days from when I pay, I kinda need it RIGHT NOW. Thanks for the help
