Hey guys,
I recently got some coilovers for the rear, and wondering how hard it would be to install it myself, just myself, no help from a friend. I have the basic tools that I always use to: take off bumper, install/reinstall headlights, take off wheels/lug nuts, stock jack. Im a diy kinda guy, but was wondering with my basic tools, and experience, how hard it would be to install the rear coils? It is oem style btw. I read some threads(diy), but they are all on spring installs, which do help, but just wondering if I should be able to do it myself with ease. Please let me know, thanks.

its cake...you need a 17mm open ended wrench (maybe 2), jack, 2 jack stands, 12mm and a somewhat long extension, wratchet too. on a scale of 1-10...i say its a 2. BUT then again ive done TONS of installs. (and thats if you run into issues)..
how does one come accross coils for the just the rears? get them cheap? Craigslist? didnt you have that bumper issue?

The install isn't hard. It may take some time if you're doing it solo. Not to mention you might run into some stubborn *** bolts like I did. Make sure you have a breaker bar for the rear bolts. PB Blaster will help a lot too. The rear are easier than the fronts btw.

one last question. I bought the hks ls coils for the rear, and the height is adjusted by the spring perch. I turn it up or down to adjust height. Does that perch replace the stock spring mount? Do i not need the spring mount anymore? And how hard is it to adjust height with that? Do I need to take off my wheel everytime I want to adjust the height? Just imagining it, it would seem hard to stick my hand in there to adjust it with the wheel on. Just asking before I install them, cuz if thats the case, I don't want to mess with that later on and might just sell them, thanks.

^^btw, also, I saw the thread of 350z actual coilovers, and some oem style coils had hats. And they go under the spring, on the spring bucket. I don't have those. i only got the rear springs with spring silencers, spring perch, and strut. Is that all I need? Also, the spring silencer goes on top right? Not on the bottom touching the spring bucket but touching the spring perch? Sorry for the noobness, first time installing/coils. And getting installation instructions or even seeings pics of the hks ls is hard. Thanks.

^^yea they do. THanks for the pic, that helps a lot. Do you see the hat on the bottom left, that goes on top of the spring and REPLACES the stock rubber spring mount, correct? And the spring silencers are already installed on the spring, and they touch the hat, not the spring bucket, correct? Just want to confirm these little things before installing myself.

Correct, the spring hat replaces the rubber upper spring mount and retains the lower rubber spring seat. The spring orientation has the spring silencers seated to the spring hat so it sounds like you are good to go on the install. Be sure to upload some pictures after you're done.

you wont get very far with the OEM jack.
You have to have both wheels in the air to remove the struts. The sway bar will fight you the whole way if you don't. I also wouldn't recommend the OEM jack for safety reasons.
