my Z, 100k, blown shocks, and new br coils :)
Just sharing...
Well this is more of an appreciation thread of my car. Its an 04 base model, whcih I got here in June 2006 with 20,000 exactly. I'm the third owner. Anyway, this June 2011 will be the 5th year of ownership. Wow just realized I've had this car for a long time. I went through grad school driving it, finished grad school, and now working again... Went to multiple road trips to Norcal, Vegas, etc....
Its been pretty reliable!!!! I change my oil using amsoil once per year. Then switch to regular oil at 75000 mile oil change interval during grad school (LOL to save money). I rarely put any miles on it during that time since I live near the school and I only really went to internship twice a week, so I put around 15k in two years. I'm back to synthetic for once every 10k. I do all the maintenance myself in the garage (30k, 60k, 90k, and now soon, 105000 (three miles off). Will probably go back to amsoil after I finish my batch of pennzoil synthetic I bought a few months ago.

So far, change the front pads twice, rotors once. Rear brake pads once. I'm still on the oem rear brake rotors. At around 79k or so, my clutch blew so that was changed.
I need to get a coolant flush and powersteering flush at 105k... I'm gonna go and also get my valve springs in a few months.
After some mild mods througout its life (EBAY HIDs, v1 track rims, rear view camera 7 in farenheit screen with 03 cubby, nismo exhaust, power lab 3/8 spacers, 370z side marker, stillen intake box with Z tube.

At around 100k I noticed the tires were done so took it to the alignment shop and they say my shocks are blown. $750 for regular monroe struts with labor, so without further ado... BC racing coilovers yay!!!! Took me about a day total to install it after many breaks and a strip brake line nut
Ending up having to dremel the nut off.
The install was pretty easy and straight forward, minus the strip nut.
Up coming projects include 25mm spacers, front and rear camber kit, upgraded bushings since the stock ones are gonna much sooner than later.
I may buy a Z4 in a year or two, but I still wanna keep my Z

so the install was pretty simply and straight forward. Now I've never worked on springs before but I do all the work so after some reach on the net and on here, I went to work.

as she sits now after washing her last night.... love the lowered stance quite a bit. I may have to raise it up a bit after the wheel spacer install/camber kit, and see if its livable for me since I commute with this car. Overall seems like a great coilover given the price, and the relative stock comfort feel it exhibits.
just put a set of coilovers BC racing on mine as well. I had a nismo suspension with 40-50,000 and got a great deal with the tunerzstore.com and installed myself as well. I love the ride. I have it set on soft and can cruise all day over bumpy KY roads and it soaks it up but it is still nice and tight. Then I can tighten it down and get on it in the twistys. Two buddies of mine have them on a G35 and a 2011 camero. They feel the same. Service from BCracing and tunerzstore.com has been great. I ordered mine with the 210 mm springs in the back and realized it dropped it to low so they sent out the 230 mm springs at no charge to me. All I have to do is pay for the shipping back on the 210's. Like 15 bucks.

Yeah man. I FINALLY drive my car fully today and while I still need to get an alignment, the BCs BR are AWESOME. I think I have it ten clicks from the softtest setting and it soaks the socal bumps like its stock! Very much money well spent compared to using just lowering springs and regular stock shocks. Still needs spacers, then camber, then bushings : )
I installed them last night and got done at about 11pm. I left the height set at factory to let them settle. Probably going to adjust the height either Monday or Tuesday and then get an alignment. But setting the height that early wouldn't harm them right?
How would it harm it? Then again, most do harm setting coilovers up since they have no clue. Really they can't get any worse than cheap china coilovers they already are. Even when working with quality coilovers you make your adjustments right away.
