I second the request for any info on track driving. I was dead set on the PBM Pro coils, but was interested in these for my S13 and never heard anything about the Z33 ones. All of the S13's I've driven that had Fortune coils were amazing, but then again both are very different platforms.

I have experience on several tracks in socal, from buttonwillow to fontana speedway, i am no expert when it comes to suspension but i know enough, i wont claim that the fortune autos are the best but for the price and the accessability to valving and swift spring upgrade from fortune auto imho they are the best for the $1000-$1200 price range. I love running these on the track and canyons i said it before when you have all the components set right and they are working together i.e. ride height, corner balance, and camber/ toe settings plus others they work absolutley great. Not to mention that you can have each set dynoed to match each other, it is rare to find a coilover company that will provide the dyno research to their coilovers in this price range. Ill end with this even though the fortunes are great it all comes down to everything under the car working together not just the coilovers themselves.

These actually sound like the coilover to buy in the price range.

What do they spring helpers do exactly? Are they even necessary if you are going with low spring rates?

Assist springs have two functions. The first is the spring adds a progressive rate to the initial portion of the stroke. This progression can add increased comfort is used on a daily driver coilover setup that has stiff springs installed. It provides racers added softer spring rate progression. Once the assist crushes, the normal spring rate will take over.
The second job is the same as helper springs. They prevent the loss of traction during rebound, and extreme cornering.

Assist springs are designed to repeatedly be fully crushed. Every assist spring crushes to the same height. That allows drivers to change assist springs without resetting the spring perch on coilover without changing ride height.Swift helper springs are specially designed to provide minimal effect on spring rate. Using helper springs allows the spring to stay firmly on its perch when the shock has negative or zero load. Driver should use helper springs if they experience springs coming loose from their perch and/or they can not preload the main spring because of car height issue.

This is takin directly from swift springs usa.

I think I'm going to pass on these. Heard from several people and read online they have leaking issues.

"Note that one of the coilovers is leaking and I recommend a rebuild."
http://www.norcalevo.net/threads/342...-500-Coilovers

However, if you throw stiffer springs on to the Fortune coilovers, odds are they will begin to leak in a short amount of time. Simply put, they're cheap Taiwanese coilovers.

They make BC Br's in a true coilover. I have them laying right next to me on my floor.

Default Fortune auto

I fell in love with these coil overs for the longest time and I have Zilvia.net to thank for that, now i recently got my 08 z33 and buying them was the first thing I did and i cannot complain they are my first coil overs but the way they are and drive are great. I got them for amateur drifting, and they are the best bang for my buck in my book.

I run 9k front springs and 7k rear, I use no helper springs, and have no problems with leaking oil. Ive seen people on this forum complain about that which is the first time I ever heard that about Fortune auto and i spent a long time researching different coil overs.

Given how much rear spring the kit actually puts on the ground. I'm not surprise in the least you'd do amateur drifting.

448lbs front, but in the rear since the spring is on the damper and kits directly over the hub its equal to running a 750lbs spring in the oem location.
