V1 v2 and V3 are all height adjustable.

V1 has fixed dampening
v2 is a 1 way, that means rebound only (compression does change with rebound)
V3 is a 2 way separate compression and rebound.

 

I'm worried the KW V2s wont go low enough for me. 1.5" doesn't seem like a lot...

How about Tanabe Z40s? Anyone care to give their opinion on these coils?

 

Springs are easily swapped out and cheap. Dampers are a bit more expensive, I would want higher quality dampers.

 

dropping an inch and half (and depending on wheels/tires) you will drag on alot of things. i am lowered an inch, with 18" wheels and 40 series tires and i drag on my speed bumps in my apts and the front on some driveways

 

But if I change the spring height will that change the damper ratings?

I'm leaning more towards buying V2s and swapping springs later if I even want to go lower.

 

Not at all, but you are limited in spring tension. If you got more that 2kg stiffer, you will need to get them revalved.

 

What would you guys recommend for getting my Z low enough to not see a wheel well gap. Fortune auto or BC Racing coilovers?
I seen a video of a Z on supposed Fortune coilovers and it was just the perfect ride height to what im leaning on.

To answer your question, springs will get rid of wheel gap on stock wheels unless they're 17's. If that's your only goal, it's extremely attainable.

To me thats pretty slammed. You lower that much on a DD and you will be scraping on a lot of stuff. I think it looks great just not super practical.

 

LOL Hell no i just kept skipping till i seen the car since that Z is similar to what i got at the moment. Yeah i know it doesnt seem super practical cuz but just figured id use the video as a reference lol. but i just want a set of coilovers that would give me a smooth ride and get low. I just seen that video that stated it used Fortune coilovers so i decided to post up and get some input.
Do you guys think Stance gr+ with 13k front and 6k rear do the trick?

Have you read through Suspension 101/FAQ's and do you realize how many complementary components you need to purchase and install along with the coilovers themselves, especially if you plan on lowering as much as you're desiring? Do you have the funds/know-how to purchase/install these parts?

 

I have a decent idea on the components if i want to go low. I know i need to purchase camber kit so that i wont be eating the inside of my tires. I know i can do everything by myself but this is my first Z and im experimenting on it to get a good feel on how i want my car to be on the longrum. My budget would probably be around 2.5k with coilovers and components if possible. So if i can get some ideas of a good setup with components and all it would be of great help. I have read that the most common spring rate is around 10/8 but i was offered some that were 13/6. All i want is to close the wheel gap on my fenders probably wont be goin as low as the video since i will be scrapping a lot.

 

Used bistein PSS for 7-800, revalve at $75 each, linear replacement springs front and rear of your choice, and some minor effort to fab a rear spring adapter???

375 revalve (added shipping)
200 springs
150 rear spring adapter
1475+- a few dollars

Custom sprung, valved, monotube coilover setup. Shock body isnt adjustable if that is a concern though, but they do use a helper spring so youre not preloading the main spring to set ride height. Just another option...

 

What brands are you looking at the suspension components? Should be SPL (track) or SPC/Kinetix (dd)

And I know Visalia is a small city, is there a proper alignment shop out there and can deal with a lowered vehicle with aftermarket suspension arms?

I'm by means no expert but these are just things I've learned searching through this forum and sourcing parts for my own Z.

 

Im aiming for a DD so most likely SPC/kinetix. Theres a few alignment shops here so thats no problem.

I was going to go with the tokico d-spec kit, but it is now OOS with no ETA at all shops..

Love my kw v1. Remember to get stock upper mounts from rock auto or something so u have all fresh parts. Love the ride, better than stock. Wish the rear went a little lower but it's no big deal

 

Tein Basics are poopoo. Definitely can't go wrong with anything from KW (comfort and performance wise) may not go low enough for you though.

Stance's and Fortunes is what I could consider out of this list. Not BCs because they are OEM type instead of true. I think for the ride height you want true will be necessary. My recommendation would be PBM Pro's but I think they may be a little out of your range at $1400.
