Default Brake Guide Pins question for stock Non brembo

Anyone have any idea why the parts diagram calls for
This guide pin on the bottom of the non brembo caliper

and this pin on the top?

I bought a replacement with the rubber boot, parts guy said they were all the same (original one didn't have the rubber boot) but now I'm getting a brake rattle. I did a complete brake job at the same time so narrowing down the culprit is a little difficult but from what I can tell, it's either something to do with the play in the guide pins or the lack of shims that came with my HP+ pads.

The '07 service manual shows boots on both pins with a note that says "Apply rubber grease."

Yea I have an 04 and the 04 service manual doesnt show any boots on them. I guess I could just replace all of them with the Booted ones since theyre pretty cheap.
