I haven't heard of the KTS coils.
But SPL makes baller suspension parts.
I'm sure the coils are paired with SPL for a good quality reason.

yea same here I know SPL makes awesome parts... I went on the SPL site and they do not have this pairing of parts listed anywhere on thier website. from doing a few searches i've only come up with a hand full of threads dated back to 2006/2007 and from what i read it was just a "prototype" kit back then.

Really looks like Megan/BC Coilovers, the guys at SPL may be trying to get some easy money.

Had these on my 240sx. They've been around for a long while before the influx of cheap Taiwan/China factory special coilovers. I can't say for sure where they're made, but KTS is a Japanese company, SPL brought these over and they were very popular with the 240sx crowd as they were competitively priced and seemed to be great bang for the buck choice. I paid ~$1150 for mine ~6 years ago.

The build quality was good and I have no complaints after a few years of daily driving and a few track days on them. The damping is similar to the other Japanese coilovers, lots of compression damping, more linear than digressive. There may be some dynos floating around for the 240sx on zilvia.net somewhere. As for replacement SPL offered replacement shocks/struts that you can buy from them, don't know if they still do that and don't know if they are revalveable. My roommate at the time also had a 240sx and he had a set of the original Stance coilovers running I believe the same spring rates and they felt pretty similar to the KTS/SPL set up.

All in all I was happy with it, especially given there wasn't as many options for the 240sx back then as there is now. For the price listed on that page, I think I would rather look into a set up with more refined valving. Hope this helps.

Edit: just realized the price includes SPL midlinks.

Maybe, but there is one aspect of the front damper i don't like that would cause me not to buy them. If the pic is correct.

They say 15 way adjustable, all the china coilovers are 32 way. Probably not the same thing.

The only person I remember using an SPL/KTS kit was sfarrah, who eventually moved on to Motons.

SPL is pretty popular with the 240 community. I think for the price you'd be getting a decent product.

Quote from the above link

This product is on extended backorder or has been permanently discontinued and is not available

I suggest you talk to SPL directly before you do anything else.

You can find a more detailed product discription on KTS, but looking at the z32 application on the same web site

The SPL coilover kit is designed for semi-street semi-track use. Tested and developed by us, and manufactured to our specifications by KTS Japan, our coilovers feature: 15 levels of dampening adjustment High pressure mono-tube internals for best track performance Plated steel shock body for durability Aluminum pillow ball upper mounts. Spring rates are 8kg/mm front and 6kg/mm rear Independent adjustments for shock length and spring pre-load to provide height adjustment while maximizing stroke This is our recommended entry-level coilover for the weekend track warrior.

Hopefully KTS Japan isn't a case of them buying cores from BcRacing and shipping them out of Japan as made in Japan. Another case where shock dyno's would be a very good idea.

That is not important. That community continues to have love affairs with stuff that is garbage. Stuff that if you handed it to me I'd walk it straight to the dumpster and toss it. Wouldn't run it, couldn't even resell it.

I can see why 240sx, Z32 or even honda guys like running the "junk" brands I mean most of thier cars are 10-15 years older than our Z's are and more than likely they did not buy thier 1990 240sx brand new and have no idea what "new" suspension feels like. Then they go grab what ever coilover kit they can afford like stance or bc or whatever and ofcourse it is going to "feel" and perform lightyears ahead of thier 15 year old stock set up. If I had a $2,000 240sx there is no way in hell i'm going to pay $2,500 on a decent set of coilovers. But on our Z's we need to spend the extra money to inprove on the already good suspension the Z comes with. just my 2cents.

Anyways I went out and bought a set of rebuilt KW V3's so I will not be taking any chances on this KTS kit
