Default 350z SPC A-Arm Clunking... Searched a ton - no solid answers.

Hey guys, so I just got done installing a decent amount of stuff on my 350z. So.. My spc a arm, the first drive is clunking from hitting the top of my wheel well. I'm wondering if I did something wrong in the installation of it?

I also installed ksport kontrol pro coilovers, and other necessary spc suspension parts in the rear.

So.. the process of installation was removing the stock coilover - which I managed to get out no problem without unbolting the sway bar. I then removed the stock a arm, and had the conical bushing that needs to be reused with the spc's pressed off, they were in perfect condition still once they were off, so I just reused them. I then threaded the 2 a arm bolts in by hand that hold it, bolted up the suspension piece that goes from the a-arm to the hub, and THEN torque down the a arm to 40ft lb's which is what the nissan tech install said: http://www.*********.com/wiki/index....m_Installation

Although.. I was concerned about these torque numbers because oem says 50-60ft lb's on the bolts.. Should I have torqued down the 2 a arm bolts prior to bolting them up to the hub -> a arm part of the suspension?

The car is about 1.5" lower in the front than stock, and 1.25"~ lower in the rear.

Any ideas? I have also read that the spc a arms aren't capable of handling a drop of 1.5" without clanking? And then other people say they're fine and make no noises?..

Mine are oem a arms and they also hit the top on bumps. But that's because I'm low.
Are you sure you only lowered 1.5 inch?

Some have cut a section out where it hits but that's if your slamed,

If you set your coilover up properly your bumpstops should probably hit before the arm does. Also only 1.5 inch drop , lets see, we start with roughtly 3 inches of bump travel (up travel) you remove half of that , leaving you with only 1.5 travel left. Between the two, is the reason you hit.

had mine installed for 30 days and the boots failed, spc replaced them for me free. i have a knock sound over bumps but im low on 19s and its either the wheels hitting the fenders or the arm hitting the top of well

SPC a arms are crap. poorly designed. Because of the clunking issue, i switched back over to stock arms.

I have SPC arms but with stance coils. Same issue, although i had more of an aggressive drop. I raised the car up and it only clunks (a-arms hitting the inside of the wheel well) over big bumps (which is fairly rare).

Your options are unfortunately limited: 1) buy new a arms. 2) raise the car or 3) live with the clunk.

I highly doubt it was an instal issue.

Most should know that with ANY aftermarket A arms and an aggressive drop you NEED to first, grind down the 2 bumps on the knockle. If not, any A arm will be damaged by the bumps

I would recommend jacking up your car and inspecting for any damage. Most likely all the noise is from the arm hitting the two bumps. SPL also recommends to do so in their instructions for their UFAs.
