Akebono BBK comparison
We have a mountain pass here that is a 5 mile half up hill half down hill with grades between 7 an 15%. I have oem size aftermarket cross-drilled and slotted rotors with nismo pads and dot4 brake fluid. I'm going to give her hell this weekend when I get home. These rotors/pads were on the car when I bought it. I put the dot4 fluid in. I have a 300zx caliper swap with 13" cobra rotors to install in the front anyway. Lets see how durable the current setup actually is. Hopefully I "don't end up in a roadside ditch".

larger rotor and 4 piston solid caliper. Ive done same thing to a 4th gen maxima it makes quite a difference. Its just a holdover till I can justify getting ultralight floating 2 pc rotors and the akebono swap. Car is n/a right now. So more or less just something to do untill my shortblock is finished. Also, the calipers are black and say nissan. Bonus. :P

I guess it is the most logical upgrade. I had the z32 calipers and cobra rotors laying around so I thought would be something fun to pass the time.
Yea definitely, I just don't think the Z32 calipers are a good option but if you have as set... have at it. I've had Akebono's and Brembo's... the Brembo's are lighter but not as aesthetically pleasing as the Akebono's but if you plan on tracking the Brembo's are seriously the better choice. If I hadn't found the deal of the decade on my Endless units(Forged 6/4pots, 2-piece rotors, and A/N lines for $5k) ... I'd have Brembo's.

like i said i have had no problems on mine be it slowing down from high speed or driving twistys by north shore(you can ask some of the other guys from oahu, when i say twistys they are damn twisty). some of them have as much as a 45 degree slope or more(no joke if you dont use brakes you will coast down them in neutral at 85 mph) i pushed it hard enough that my 285/30/18's occasionally slide just a tiny bit before grabbing again.
i dont understand how someone could possibly be warping rotors, are you using too much brake, do you have a wheel design that restricts airflow that much? i havnt even come close to even boiling stock fluid, and its not cold either its 85 every day here. it tells me you probably need more tire so you dont need as much brake, only reason im interested in brembos or wilwoods even are because i cant get 2 piece for the stock size(at least i cant seem to find them but mayby im just not looking hard enough.)

Lol MSRP on my kit was $12k so it was an easy choice. Yes it's on my OEM master cylinder, I don't need the adjustability and Wilwood sells an upgraded unit if I ever needed to. There's a set of Brembo's for $1500 in the Marketplace. I've seen some StopTechs and Wilwoods that fit your price range.
So Ive also read that heavier hub assemblies will change damper bump/rebound characteristics. This causing your suspension to react slower to changes in the road. This includes wheel and tire weight and also the rotating hub assembly! This can cause tires to smash to the lip of the wheel or cause the tire to float over bumps instead of flowing with them. This is all fairly obviousy and Im bored. WTB OEM Brembos.
Options:
akebono - if you want a sick looking setup thats kinda pointless
Brembo - best track option
Wilwood or other really expensive kit - best track and look
option
Stock non-brembo - for the guys who dont drive their cars very hard

There's a very helpful review of akebono floating around somewhere ..ill look for it after the gym...measured rotor temps changes in.overall stopping and acceleration etc... looked far more than good enuff for me..ill see if I can find it later..
Yes they're good enough for you because your not tracking your car at the moment either.
Need another $2k for brakes, $2k for boost prep on new motor, $4k for T-Trim, Then looking into wheels for the track Im sure ill drop another $4-5k. Its madness. Im trying to keep this build under $20,000. Lol. I only paid $7500 for the car so that helps lmao. /offtopic
@Flo..
Werd...n I prob never will.
my rides pretteh pretteh pointless as it is .. imagine seeing it on a track? Bahaha. Terrible ..
