Question Rotora BBK From 2003-2005 on 2006+?

hi guys - I have a 07 non brembo 350z an have been looking to get a BBK for the longest time now..I recently stumbled upon a rotora big brake kit - 355mm 6piston front and 355mm 4 piston rear. The only catch is that this kit came off of a DE 350z and idk if it would work just as good on a HR Z. I have placed several phone calls to businesses asking if the DE kit would work on a HR Z and the answers I've gotten was that the kits are very similar to one another however the model numbers are slightly different (rotora 6piston 355mm DE version: rfk01506 vs HR kit: rfk01509) I've heared people using the DE kit on their HR however I want to know if anyone has hands on experience with this and could chime in PLEASE!! it's a large purchase and I need help from fellow Z buds. Thx guys..

It's a large purchase and I know you want the right thing for your car, look at something other than Rotora.

I wouldn't make an investment like this with the wrong application. There's a REASON why kits are different. Your car has pretty damn good brakes as is, and it's entirely possible that, in this case, the wrong application could result in INFERIOR braking to OEM. You won't get the proper brake bias, since DE brakes are MUCH different than 06 up cars.

Replacement parts and pad selection suck, but the do look pretty for a non used application.

Stoptech also makes bbk specifically for 03-05 and for 06-09 350Z's. They highly recommended not to run their bbk that are made for 03-05 on 06+ due to brake bias like ronn1 mentioned above.

Also, buy what ever brand you like and ignore that terra dude.

why is that, do you sell the mentioned product or something? OP , stick to the brands that you can easily get parts for and will not fold tomorrow.

Thank you for the feedback! I've also called a few places and the main difference ive been told was that piston volume is different for de and hr applications so it could lead to dangerous braking due to the specs being thrown off. Man I really want the kit tho...been looking for a while now! Thx again dude

The reason I'm keeping my options open is because I mostly take my car to car shows - occasionally there's a drag day/circuit race going on but not like I do it weekly.. Rotora should satisfy my needs.

You're right dude. I did call stoptech and asked about their kit differences and I was advised not to run the de kit on the hr..what throws me off is that people still do it and have not experienced any complications. But it's a risk and starting to swing towards rather not taking it

Brands are pretty much irrelevant to me - I take the car to mostly car shows and occasionally the drag strip/circuit racing. Any brand should suffice in my case! Thx or the help

No the seller hasn't posted in this thread. He's right tho for my specific usage - pretty much any brand will do. I hear what you're saying about replacement parts but rotora has been around for a while an parts are floating around everywhere if you know where to look.

I've been thinking about this...since you're changing front and rear with same kit, piston volume shouldn't matter...since they're MATCHED. The only thing I can think of is that the master cylinders may be different on later models....but you see people updating pre 06 brakes to 06+ and there aren't any problems there! Based on this reasoning..you should be fine.

That's what my question to shops were but I was still given answers not in my favor. I've contacted rotor tech department asking this question and I am still waiting to hear back from them.

You can do it because of the reasons stated...if you can swap older brakes (pre 06) with newer ones..and this is done ALL THE TIME..., then you can do the same with ANY brakes as long as they are matched for F/R bias! In other words, on a 06+ car, you *could* swap out the newer 06+ and put on SMALLER pre 06 brakes! No one would ever do this, but it *could* be done with no problems. I think the only reason Stop Tech (I have those) makes DE (pre 06) vs HR different, is because they were designed to use ONLY on the FRONTS! That's what I did. Although they do have a F/R set up as well. Don't know if that's different 06 vs pre 06 though.

From what I have also seen the masters are the same, but as I know the master is not the only thing that can change the bias. The abs module can easily be the part that controls bias, but I have never looked if there is a difference.

I also agree a matched set should be fine, other brake companies only offer one BBK for the car fron 03 to 08 and they work fine.m
