Default Akebono Brake Pads??

Hey guy,

I'm thinking of ordering some akebono brake pads for the 350z. I was wondering if anyone here has used them or has some reviews/insight on them. I know most of you will recommend hawk, stoptech, and red stuff. But what about these? They are around the same price range, and have good reviews on amazon, just no information on this forum.

Also if I don't track or do hard driving, will I be better off saving money and buying autozone duralast brake pads? They are about 40-50 both front and rear, as opposed to 50 for a pair for the brand name ones, thanks

Steve

Akebono Ceramics are good for low dust and low noise. I do track my car, but use Hawks for track use and then switch to Akebonos for street driving. It made a huge difference over stocks and im sure over duralast. I get more road dust on my rims than i do brake dust when i use them. I have a nice set of rims that I dont want getting damaged with brake dust.

It may just be me, but I think the braking power is a little worse compared to stock, but I never was worried that my car wasn't going to stop at any point. It may just be that now I transition between track pads and these, which makes it very noticeable.

Hope that helps.

^^That does help, especially hearing good reviews from a member :]

So if I wanted more stopping power, you would recommend I run the hawks, but since im only driving on the street I would be better off with akebono correct?

I suspect anyone with a 370Z and Akebono brakes has Akebono pads:

Light dust on front wheels
Quite
Predictable in the rain. No surprises

I've used Akebono pads for every day use. No complaints.

resurrecting an old thread just in case someone had questions about Aekebono pads for track use.

I had them on the car for street use- loved them, good bite, no noise, and barely any dust. For the price, can't beat it.

Took the car to the track and they have no business there. Brake fade, most definitely overheated them. Got me thru a day at HPDE, but had to brake early.

That's what happens to street pads. The temp range is just not for track use, but they will work fine for a day or two as beginning.

Agreed. Surprisingly, I wore my front pads down to the metal! Pads were practically new. Lesson learned
