Fortune Auto 500 Coilover Generation-4 Question
this is good info for guys that are told to buy used JDM coilovers...
i have had a set of fortune 500 on my car for 6 months now and for the price i dont think they can be beat. I wanted to try them for racing since noone seems to want to try them.
They do have there issues but what coilover doesnt. i got 13k/11k setup and it is a little rough on the street but seems to hold up well at the track. For our cars they do need to work on the valving in the rear because i am having some issues controlling the rebound. i have messed with the preload to try and get it dialed in but still i am having issues.
In regards to the build quality, location and parts makers. the parts are all taiwan and they come in not assembled. they are made in house to the customers order. They no longer provide dynos for each customer because they are running out of time with all of there orders. they will still provide one if you pay a little extra but i dont remember how much they are charging.
They are very easy to deal with and i would recommend them to anyone looking to lower there car. i think the verdict is still out on whether or not they would work for racing, but i have no problem beating the hell outta mine until they break or i loose a seal.

CCDesigns: Thank you for your real world 1st person review on the suspension.
To my knowledge, they can be rebuilt and any parts that need replacing they can/will replace. As quoted on Fortune Auto's website.
I have never taken apart any shocks so I don't know to what extent they can be rebuilt, as I am no expert on building shocks.
Standard shock rebuilds include the following services:
- Disassembly and inspection of shocks
- Replacement of worn shims and o-rings
- Refill with Amsoil synthetic shock oil
- Cleaning of dirty exterior parts
- Nitrogen refill to spec
- Dyno test to verify performance
Rebuild services do not include fixing or replacing of damaged parts such as bent shafts,
torn boots or other broken parts outside of warranty. Cost of replacing or repairing
damaged parts will be determined at time of rebuild.

I had a set of 500's on my s13 hatch. They rode pretty nice for 8/6, but once you start tucking, the ride goes to hell (not faulting the coilover, but my kidneys took a beating).
Coilovers looked great, performed nicely on the track.
Had problems with the rear coilovers not clearing my style of aftermarket ruca (standard halfmoon/s14 design), so I ended up spending more money and bought a set of their RUCA (STOUT, very nice design, half moon but its 1/4 steel, not tube).
However, I will say that after only roughly 5k miles of street with once a month track time, I spun out on the track into the grass, and my front driverside strut blew out like nothing.
I contacted fortune auto, and it was gonna cost me 100.00 + shipping both ways and they would not honor the warranty after I was assured by the dealer that they had a substantial warranty.
Nice looking product, but I've used other coilovers that cleared the multiple styles and brands of arms i've run, and took a little more of a beating. Warranty fail aside, their customer service reps were very polite and answered all of my questions easily.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd bump this rather then start a new one..
Are there any current reviews on these coilovers? They sound like the best coilover in this price range. Just curious as to the durability of these.

My personal opinon on them so far, I think they're great. They don't slam your car, they will get you at tire level all the way low in the rear on 18s, the fronts can lay frame. They handle great and are super smooth. The only thing I dislike is the spring rates I got. 9k 7k is too soft if you want a stiff low ride. I've had them for almost a year now and they're still like new.
I will say I had these for almost 2 years soon and about 15k in miles. They are for the most part very good and I have not had any issues. The only thing is that when on highway if I hit a dip on the road they are to soft and the suspension bottom outs. Other then that which only happen in certain areas they have been good to me. If anyone has any question please feel free to ask.
