For all of you that want to see the Z lowered with H&R springs here u are. The drop is 1.5 front and rear on 19" Volk gt-7s. The tires in the rear are 275/30/19 and the front 245/30/19. Drop in the front looks lower because i got too small of a profile in the rear. I should have gotten 35's. not 30's. The SLIP light comes on very often as a result when i go around large corners at higher speeds or even when i gun it in a straight line. I have to keep the VDC off a lot so the accelerator wont cut off. So, if you are planning on getting new and larger tires and rims, make sure you dont screw up in this dept. The company i bought my tires and rims from said they have had no problems with this yet so far, It just so happened that the 275/35/19's were on national backorder. That is the spec i wanted but they said 275/30/19s would be fine, that they had sold plenty for the Z and noone had any problems. I probably should have just waited but that is what they told me.

 

Hmm.. weird. I'm running 275/30/19 in the rear and have no problems with VDC engaging too early. I also rememeber someone (Z1?) that the 30 series tires are preferred over the 35 series on most Z's in Japan. Wonder why you're having problems.

BTW- Very nice drop with the H&R springs.

I have 18 OEM wheels right now and also have VDC
I really don't want to get into trouble with VDC
Does this setup sound right setup???

You are right. People have told me too that 30 series would be better but i have also read in other posts that the 35series is screwing with the proportional diameter between the fronts and rears. If your having no problem, then somethings wrong with my car. Do you have 35's in front?

 

Yes- my wheels are 19 x 8.5 with 245/35/19 and 19 x 9.5 with 275/30/19. Did you have your wheels on before the H & R's? If so were you experiencing problems? Or did the VDC problems start when you installed the springs?

 

Those problems started before I installed the springs and continued after the spring install.

 

Yes, this is the correct set up to match the diameter of your stock set up if you are currently running 18s.

275/30/19 is a shorter tire than stock in the rear and will cause VDC problems if you have a Performance, Touring, or Track. The lower models like the Base or Enthusiast do not come with VDC, so they will not have problems if they run this set up.

 

racerX- you are correct a 35 series is closer to the stock wheel/tire diameter. But there are numerous people running 30 series in the rear with no VDC problems. He can try to switch over to 35 series tires and this may correct the situation on his car. But before buying new tires I'd check alignment, camber, balance and tire pressure. I can tell you from personal experience that not all cars that run 30 series in the rear will have VDC problems.

BTW aron- what kind of tires are you running.

 

I am running Nitto NT555's. I am getting my alignmnet done today so maybe that will eliminate the problem. H&R said that even though I currently may have some obvious negative camber, that an alignment would be all i would need. No need for any camber adjusters they said.

 

Be sure to let us know how the alignment works out. Ive been thinking about the h&r springs for my g35 but their web site says 1.0 and 1.1 drop which is very similar to the eibachs. If this is the case then there will be possible camber and toe problems. From what i understand, at least with the eibachs, some people can get the camber in spec, but sacifice the toe setting. I would like a decent lowering spring that i dont have to spend a **** load more money on adjustable camber rods, traction rods etc......

 

Stock shocks/struts? If so, is the damping adequate?
