okay whats up guys , i recently have tein basics on my Z
and it doesnt sit low enough for me. so i was looking at the
stance coilovers. would this be a downgrade? do stance go really low?
cause i know tein is a really good brand.. just not sure what
to do ,, recomendations well appreciated.. thanks

Since the OEM spring mount is used , you can do the spring mount mod. It also looks like you may be running civic sized tires or front tires mounted in the rear of your car, a tire swap to proper tires will help with the gap.

 

Lol, civic tires. Personally I don't understand why those coilovers keep you so high off the ground, at least get to tire level if you want to be "hellaflush" with your stretched tires. Stance are good coilovers, I've never heard any complaints about them. If you won't be happy with the way it looks until you tuck tire, then get the new coilovers.

Yeah. My fortune autos got me to tire level and that's where I wanted to be. I have a friend who has stance and they seem really nice. If you don't plan on tracking the car, just get the bc coils, they are cheaper if ur worried about $, and they are basically the same as stance, just lower quality.

As you reduce width you need to go up in sidewall height. You probably need 40 series tires

either do the shorter spring mount mod and remove collars. If thats now low enough, choose among: bc coils, d2 coils, ksport, megan, stance, top speed. All budget coils that can get what you want. I am currently running d2 and they can put your car to the ground, and im pleased with the ride.

I think there was a set that was already cut for sale in the Marketplace no too long ago.

 

D2's go pretty low as well. That's what I'm running, ride about as well as OEM if not the same imo. I'm not all that low at the moment, but when I had the coils slammed, dude.. I was pretty dang low. They're true type and wouldn't require spring mount mod, etc.

 

Remove the rear collar and do the spring mount mod it will get you close to where you want to be you'll need to roll your fenders though and you'll probably also need to throw some negative camber in the rear to.

 

Hey. D2 showing up. Awesome. I'm also on those. Love'em. That said, what is your goal with this car? Like Terrasmack said, you can run a taller tire and clear up the wheel gap and based on where your wheels sit now, you'd probably also be "hellaflush".

If you want to go lower, Stevehl has listed coils that will slam you. I can tell you that as the low goes, Stance and D2 are the lowest. You can not max out those in the front and still drive. They will LITERALLY have your frame on the ground. Of those 2, Stance are more expensive. IMO, those are the only 2 worth mentioning if you want low cuz Stance is the most expensive and other than D2, nothing else will get you as low.

Now, nobody has mentioned it but I'm sure some of thought it, what you may not know about slamming a car is that is disrupts the cars geometry. So, once you pass a certain point, performance need not be a concern. Since you're looking to be hella flush, you should also be informed that as you get lower and lower, your wheels will begin to camber inward (i.e. negative camber) moving the top of your wheel further away from your wheel well edge. That means that while you may be low, you may still encounter the gap issue. It just turns from an issue of width instead of height.

To cure such an issue, you may, then, need to acquire not only spacers, but you may also need camber arms to help ensure that your tires don't wear unevenly. The camber arms will allow you to adjust the camber (as their name suggest) so that you can stay within spec.

So, if you're trying to achieve the "hellaflush" look, the cheapiest/easiest way is to do as terrasmack said and get taller tires. To be slammed AND hellaflush is an entirely different beast.

 

If I may chime in a bit, I would say go with the D2 racing coilovers if you are looking to go low. They are a true coil over rear and can drop really low.
