Now is getting some slotted rotors, some better pads and steel braided lines a better route? or is that also over kill for what i use the car for?
I don't track my car and I love the Akebonos, car stops on a dime even for daily driving. Huge improvement over stock with upgraded parts. One of my favorite mods, only second to the 3.69 rear diff.

Honestly in stopping power for the street, the 06+base brakes are pretty close to the Brembos. I have the Nismos and they are supposed to be better than the Brembos. They are only marginally better than the 06+ were, the biggest difference is feel.
If that is worth it to you then it's worth getting them, otherwise 06+ is a good compromise.

There is one drawback to Akebonos, spent the day testing if my other 3 sets of wheels fit and... 2/3 don't.

Not a big deal, the spare wheels fits some of my other cars.
