A good coilover system like that runs 1000 to 1500 depending on how you shop. Since you will probably be looking for more form than function you can use some cheap coilovewr system such as BC racing, Megan, D2, Stance, etc. But if you really want a suspension that will perform, you have these options:

$1000 budget
Spring/Shock combos
Koni yellow, stock revised springs
Koni Yellow, Rsr 2000 springs

$1500
Coilovers
Eibach
Buddy Club
Truechoice
KW v1

OR

Spring/shock combo
Koni yellows with threaded perches on front shocks
Custom Eibach or hypercoil springs 2.5' ID 8" for front, 5.5' OD 13" for rear
spring Rates being 500/400

If you go this route above ^, for height adjustment you need to find rear spring adjusters or the SPL spring buckets to adjust rear height, if not you will have a static height on the spring depending on the rate you have chosen.

$2000

You will know once you start looking
Thats very insightful, thanks for the info

I would say go used only if you are good friends with the seller and you know exactly how many miles and much wear is on the coilvers. Good luck with your upgrade.
I am leaning that way too, I live in idaho, not a lot of JDMs around, and just from looking pics on this site I cannot check everything

They are closer to the Strasse Forged R10 with some detail differences.

Specs are 19x10/11 +10 245/275 tires. They're are not listed or advertised online ~ 3.6-4k depending on size, specs, and finish. Takes about 2-3 weeks to complete the build. If you want a set you can PM me and I'll get you the info as they are not a vendor on here.

I think I only paid like $1300 for bc coilovers installed with ride height setup. I had to roll the fenders, though.

If you have good coils, this is not a problem at all. My front bumper is about 1.5 inches off the ground and I dont really scrape or bottom out when going on some harsh roads. You can just go around some speed bumps . I use to bottom out with my spring/strut combo on my old 240sx. Coils are a lot better imo, and by far this car feels better than any spring/strut combo I have ever used(my spring/strut combo's were never great to begin with). I had tein springs with kgb agx shocks on my 1st s13, kokiko blue's with tanabe springs on my fc and tein springs with gr2 shocks on my last s13, my coils ride a lot smoother and the car is more responsive. wheels are 18x9.5 -13 front and 18x10.5 -6 rear. spring rate are 12/10

What ever you decide on, just remember to have fun

Thanks for the input guys, they helped me make a decision

I drove a few Zs with different configurations and i have decided to get eibach pro kit and tokico d spec

Was a tough choice between tokico and koni, konis were a lot nicer but I already bought them for my other car and decided on tokico for the Z

Let me know how your setup works out. I recently installed the Eibach Pro12 kit on my 2004.5 coupe which includes the Eibach Pro springs and re-valved Bilstein dampers. I also installed SPC front adjustable upper control arms (A arms) and in the rear SPL adjustable lower link along with the SPC toe bolts. I've been waiting to let the springs settle and now I need to get the car re-aligned.

Best regards,
ZROCM

that is the setup i have, along with hotchkis sways, you will like it... but to let you know, tokico shut down production 5 months ago and going to be at least 2-3 months before back up. their third party assembly plant went under. i went to claim warranty on one of my rears and since they dont have any now, they cant replace it so they are just giving you credit. i called them, sent emails, did the contact us... and the only way i found this out is i contacted my retailer and he called his rep.

I think I need sway bars, went to the track and felt a lot more body roll than stock setup. I did some drifts, I am no drift king but again, sway bars seem to be a necessary upgrade.

Other than that no complaints, smooth on the streets, almost feels stock on the bumps.

How do you like your setup?

I have mine scheduled for an alignment next Wednesday. Until then, it sits while the springs are settling. I'll let you know after driving it through a few curves, etc. I suspect since we went from linear springs to progressive springs, that a sway bar upgrade may be in order.

My car is aligned now. The ride and curve handling has improved. It's fantastic! The softer ride while going straight takes some getting used to because the Eibach Pro springs are progressive vs, the stock linaer springs. The steering seems less responsive(it's like going from 245/40 tires to 255/40 tires in the front). But once you are used to it, when turning, you know the springs will tightened up when taking a turn fast. The Bilstein shocks along with the Eibach Pro springs is also an excellent match. I'm also glad I installed the front SPC upper control arms, rear SPL lower link and rear SPC toe bolts. The alignment guy said it was easy to get the car aligned within factory specs. Also, you can adjust outside the specs for more aggressive driving on the track. The ride and handling of my Z has definitely improved.

Just an FYI, if you're CONCERNED about feeling the body roll in drifting, upgrade your seats. Not saying that sways won't help, but I'll be honest. If you're drifting your car, you'll notice more feel and response from a sturdier seat setup as opposed to sway bars because you're, in essence, tossing your car back and forth. The stock seat just doesn't provide enough support. That's not to sway you from sway bars (pun INTENDED), but, you're going to feel about the same in drifting because it's such an extreme shift in weight. You'll feel sway support more on the streets or on a scca/road course event as opposed to a drift event. Just an fyi.
