Default Best coilovers for my use and budget?

I'm looking to buy coilovers for my 2003 350z but I don't really know about coilovers. My z is my daily driver but I also drift occasionally. Also, I don't plan on lowering the car whatsoever, I want to keep it at the stock height.

My budget is under $1100.

coilovers make the car a little lower than the factory no matter what. if you don't wanna lower the car but want a more aggressive ride just buy some nice shocks and for $1100 you can get a hell of a set of shocks.

What are the best shocks for my budget?

Coilovers are probably your best option for drifting, IMHO. You're going to be a slight bit lower but I don't think an inch to an inch and a quarter will kill you. Any particular reason you don't want to go lower?

It's because I don't want to worry about going slow on in even roads or speed bumps etc. I don't want to be extremely careful cause I'm already careful and plus I like te stock heigh look. Do you recommend any coilovers for my price range?

There are no good coilovers at that price range. Look into getting Koni Yellows.

With a 1" drop or so I don't think you'd have any worries about most of that, but regardless, Koni or Tokico shocks will do fine if you're just looking for a better ride. Those are about your only options if you don't want to go with coilovers.

Ok thank you. One more question, should I also buy springs? And if I do decide to buy new springs which ones will be good?

So, you want to get involved in arguably the most strenuous amateur motorsport for a car to be involved in but you don't want to have to go slow over speed bumps and uneven roads? LOL. Dumbest thing I've ever heard. lol.

What is it you're looking for your suspension to do. The Z drifts just fine at stock height. Do you want more dampening, more height, colored struts? What's the purpose of the change.

Do you not go slow over speed bumps or uneven roads now? A mild drop won't kill you, I would recommend Koni Yellow shocks with Swift/Tanabe/Tein springs, research which springs are right for you. Honestly, Coilovers would be best suited for Drifting if thats the direction you are looking to take your Z and be prepared to spend 2k+ on a decent set of coilovers.

Koni or Bilstein Shocks, Hyperco springs, some of the best brands in the biz. Check out http://www.resuspension.com/ for various additional parts and great selection on springs.

My budget is under $1100.

So much terrible information in this thread.

1. OP coilovers can be set to stock height but at your budget, you dont want any coilovers in that range, especially since you like to occasionally drift.

2. You want to remain at stock height and have a performance suspension for drifting. Get koni yellows, some threaded perches for the fronts, get some 450 to 500lb/in+ springs for the front, grab some revised suspension springs for the rear which are 427lb/in, or you can find some rear spring seat adjusters and some 8.5in springs for the rear at any rate you choose, preferably at 450lb\in to 475lb\in if you feel you need to go up in spring rate (search Hypercoil or Eibach ERS). This will give you a better suspension setup than any coilover in your range and still give you the option to not worry about your height even though you can adjust it.

^ what that guy said. You can put together a very nice spring and shock setup with springs around 500 front 400-450 rear. I drift with Koni Truechoice Phase II setup which is essentially Koni Yellows and Hyperco springs, 400 rear 475 front. Daily driving couldn't be more pleasant and drifting couldn't be easier with the coilovers combined with a Quaife LSD.

whats up guy, i have a question, i recently purchases the TANABE sustec pro coilover over(non-adjustable shock), and i was wonder how the reliability is on these coils for long run? (3-5 years) the shock on these coils adjusts to how low you go, the lower you go the stiffer the shock will get, a vendor told a friend of mine that if you go too low that the shock will have too much stress on it and will not be good for the long run, PM me all information that anybody has for me please. thank guys.
