Linear spring options + what drop?
Hi folks,
I currently have BC coilovers pictured below which I am thinking of swapping out. I am having a slight instability issue, so it could be a bushing. In doing so, will be adding front camber arms and looking for shock and spring combo's. I don't remember exactly what my drop is.
Can anyone hazard a close guess based on this pic? I am looking for a similar or hair less drop f/r.
I may have found some tokico d specs without the springs they usually come with. If they are in stock, what Linear spring would get me the level of drop and pair well with d specs?

Whatever the case, you likely won't find D-Specs as they are NLM (and no, they don't always come with the springs, kit form - that's been gone longer than the shocks themselves.) But if you do, there's a high approval rating of these adjustable units.
S'far as springs, check out this thread for some commentary on traditional (non-coilover) suspension:

There's a link somewhere in the Suspension 101 thread with a listing of all the diff springs out there but you can search for it.

With all due respect the car has been checked by three shops. There have been a series of issues bearings(rear), blown Diff rear diff bushing and Tires which have been fixed over a few years which all had a similar but more pronounced issue.
I suspect that either the LCA bushings weren't thoroughly enough checked and that could be an issue. If not, the BC's could be worn or any of the various bushing connections. I don't enjoy throwing money at the issue, but wtf else can I do. No one has diagnosed it. If they tear it down and while doing so, bushing wear with be more closely inspected and can be replaced along with the suspension. I was thinking of replacing it anyway.
What else do people suggest?

I read that thread, I am hesitant to go with the Bilstein as they raise the rear of the car a bit, don't they? I have also read they are not valved properly to be paired with a lowering spring? I want something I can set and forget after install. I won't likely be tracking the car this year. If that time comes I would definatly be upgrading to something far better. For now, I want something that can accomodate my Star specs in the summer.
The D-Specs seem a nice balance performance/price, but back on topic, what linear spring in others experience has about a 1 inch drop and would pair well?
What other suggestions that fit this criteria around or under 1k ish?

Well, put this way, I would rather have Bilsteins controlling my spring action than the Tokico Blues, which are fine shocks. If you're worried about the height differential (about +5mm for the Bilstein), well.... your call.

Just make sure they actually have them on hand before you order. I've run into situations many a time (not just for Z parts) where the listings for particular items are still up - possibly because the particular part nos. aren't technically retired so they're kept up; but then they try to order them from the jobber and BZZZT, no go.
Be good for all to know where they're available. After you get yours of course. Hahahahahaha!
BTW, if you can't get them (and I think you asked about the Blues) and don't want the Koni/Bilstein/coilover stuff (and price), Tokico Blues are great shocks - particularly at the price point ~$4-500. I base this on previous experience - discussed here: https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...l#post10705621 - and the many folks currently running them.

If you did research on them (not you mic), you would have known their manufacturing plant declared bankruptcy and closed like year and half to two years ago, after that they were dang near impossible to find, and not sure when production started up again. The spring and shock combo wasn't available when I bought mine 3 years ago, so good luck finding them. I agree with mic, just because a site lists them doesn't mean they have them

On order shipped out tonight . DSP-9 which is the shocks only.
Now to pair a spring with them. There may be literally two sets left with two vendors.

Gotcha... I double and triple checked. I've been there with other parts where not until the order was placed did they go on back order.
Odds look good as they shipped out this evening via Fedex unless they are wrong. But we'll see in a few days or so. I ensured with the vendor precisely what I was asking for and I was aware they had been discontinued.

i had mine 1.5 ish turns from full stiff.... to me it handled great that way, they guy that bought my car softened them up to mid (3.5 turns). did you get the rear extenders? if not, try to find them. then you can run them up under the plastic in the hatch for easy adjustment, if not you will have to take the shock out each time

So, I'm thinking of the Swift Spec-R springs to pair with them. Spring rates: 420/in F & 460/in R
The reviews seem very positive, but I don't see that anyone has combined them with D Specs, specifically.
You know, I didn't think about the extenders. I guess I assumed they came with. I have them on my BC's but I don't recall if they are part of those units? I don't see myself adjusting otherwise.

One of these? I already have the holes on my current extensions. Will this hex fit the D Spec for certain?

*Edit they come with extenders, cool...
