Is there any mods that I have to do to fit 370z sport calipers on my 350z with brembo calipers? The brake rotors are the same price as mine and I need a new set so it's a good time to upgrade.

Where is a good place to get the adapters?

 

CZP and Z1 should both be able to provide the adapters for the front calipers. The rear calipers are a direct fit, but you may have to trim the dust shields a bit (I know you do with the non-Brembo's).

Be aware that if you let the system run dry of fluid when you're swapping the calipers, your nightmare will be getting the air out of the system. Cap the lines while swapping calipers, and keep an eye on the reservoir.

So Today I was looking at pads to get for my setup with the 370z calipers and it asked if I have iron or aluminum calipers. Are they asking about the pistons and do I just test them with a magnet ? My go two pad is hawk hps. Has any one used the new hawp hps 5.0 pads ? Any good? What line of ebc matches hps line?

 

I can't imagine whay anyone is asking, but both the Brembo and Akebono calipers are aluminum. Maybe they're just trying to distinguish the optional big brakes from the base calipers? My favorite pads are the EBC redStuff. Have them on 4 cars. They make zero dost, no noise, work great hot or cold, and they have a nice bed-in coating on the new pads. The YellowStuff are a bit much for street use, don't work as well cold, and are noisy and dusty. Reds are the best all-around pad I've ever used.

 

Is there any changes to the 370z sport master cylinder? Should I change that also?

 

You can take a look at one of the Nissan parts sites and see if there is a different part number, and there likely is. There are actually a few different MC's for the 350Z's, which vary by trim level. I don't think I'd worry about it, though, and the vendors selling the Akebono kits haven't mentioned the need for an MC change.

 

Is it safe to change the front brembo's to the 370z parts and leave the brembo on the back and drive the car?

 

It's probably OK (but I don't know for sure). Only saying that because the swept area of the Brembos v Z34 Sport Akebonos isn't vastly different. But if it's a concern, just wait and do it all at one time. (I would anyways...)

Going from OE standards to Z34 sports, I'd be concerned about brake bias but between these, not s'much. Theoretically speaking of course.

As an aside, I'm just curious.... why are you switching from Brembo to Akebono? As mentioned, the all important factors - swept area, piston # & pressure, heat dissipation are pretty close between the two. What gain expected?

 

14 inch rotors with Nissan factory calipers vs old, color doesn't match any color on my car, I need new rotors and I can get pads and rotors for the same price. Cost is min increase. I'm probably going with stoptech sport pads, duralast gold rotors. 14 inch is bigger than 12.8.

 

OK, good enough. So basically your only increase in cost over replacing all your Brembo gear is the cost of Akebono caliper and brake lines, ya?

 

every thing I have read is u don't brake lines. plus I have full stainless brake lines. Did I read that wrong?

 

No, sounds like you're set. I'm just one of those people who, when doing something like that figure I should just replace anything that's eventually going to need changing, e.g., brake flex lines. Why bother with my repeating the labor again down the road? (Especially anytime ya crack open the lines... groan.... pump pump pump the Motiv.... bleeeeeeeed... oh dammit, dint close it fast enough < repeat and then repeat >)
