Just talked to Tokico about D-spec shocks
I just got off the phone with a tech at Tokico talking about their new D-spec shocks for the 350Z. Their adjustment range runs from softer than oem to considerably stiffer, "too stiff" in his words. They are will have 45 level's of combined compression and rebound adjustment via turning a ****, the idea is to move upmarket over and above the Illimina's 5 level's of adjustment. When asked about when they would be comming to market he commented that they are in process with setting up distribution, that this is the first application of the D-spec shock. His comment on the time line was before summer, in the next couple months. Very nice guy to talk to btw.
He said they will offer the shocks in a kit of 4 shocks, no combo with lowering springs is planned at this time, maybe latter on he said according to his info.
These are definately the shocks I've been waiting for.
Red6, feel free to add what you know, especially on pricing.

They also told me they were shooting to be priced around $700-800 bucks for a full set. I think with springs it will be an extra $100 on top of that.
Dont quote me on everything though.

Dam you for quoting me. Jk
Well no new info the preliminary pricing. The price of 700-800 was told to me in January when I showed the car at the LA auto show.
Who did you talk in the tech dept was it Raymond? They are good people at Tokico very nice.
All I have to say is that Tokico D-specs shocks/stucts work great! I can corner better then a BMW Z3M and Ill just leave it that.

It's great that Koni and Tokico are coming out with applications for the 350z and G35. This is a great alternative for those of us who want enhanced handling but yet who don't want the drawbacks of higher pricetag, loss of daily driving comfort, etc. that comes along with full race coilovers.
Red6 or GSedan: Do you guys have any idea if these new D-Spec shocks are monotube or twin tube? Probably twin tube is my guess.

Jezz, the tech told me and I immediately asked what oem is since he said Tokico is the oem manactuer. I didn't let his answer on what the D-specs are sink in, sorry. Oem shocks are twin tube low pressure gas, now that I know I'll call back and ask what design the D-spec's are.

I'm not waiting for summer to change shocks. The Z has been sitting in the garage gathering dust for awhile. I'm making payments on a $35,000 car that I can't stand to drive. Tokiko's too late and 45 levels of adjustment doesn't impress me. I had the 5 way adjustable Illuminas and they were great after I finally got them to the right setting to work with tire pressures. I spent too long getting them adjusted correctly and now 45 way adjustable is for those who wish to endlessly play with the settings. I will not need any adjustment on the Konis, unless I want to go stiffer, its not likely on my roads.
