Default Questions about front lower ball join

hey guys I just got my engine cover valves replaced and the dealer said my front lower ball joints are warn out.

im looking for the ball joints and I see zmotors have them however a non Nissan dealer can't install the ball joints since he doesn't have the compression tool and recommended the entire arm that comes with the ball joint.

So which arm either lower control arm, knuckle or compression arm that comes with the ball join needed for my 350z?

I see so it's the knuckle that comes with the lower ball join. Thanks you're the real MVP

they changed the ball joint in i believe 2006, thicker and longer stud. when mine leaked i tried to find after market ones, but they were all too skinny and short. although that was 4 years ago, just make sure they are the same size if you go that route.

mine was also an 08... hence why i asked.

if you notice, the ones from Z1 have diff prices on the years...

Thats link I found as well however most non Nissan dealers wouldn't want to install just the ball joint since they so called don't have the tool to put the ball pin it. The hard part is finding a dealer that will do it.

You can rent the tools from autozone for free, unless you go visit a back alley mechanic or a small shop they probably wont have time to mess with it.

Its also probably cheaper to replace the entire thing if your paying someone else to do the work. $100 extra for the whole part or an hour of extra labor at $95 per hour.

How many miles on the car?

I just don't have the time anymore like I use to. I went to one non Nissan dealer and damn they charging me 250 per a side since they have to remove the lower control arm.

ball joint is on the knuckle itself. I can see why the dealership would want to replace the whole thing. they make more money if they tearing that much off to get the the ball joint. However u can replace the ball joint yourself with some tools. there are a few DIY write up on this forum.
