Default New coilover system I was test dummy for

My buddy has been doing shocks forever and he started his own business and designed me some shocks for my Z. One of the requirements I wanted was able to adjust the rear shocks without cutting a hole on the factory strut bar so he did. All I can say is wow these shocks are awesome on the road course the car felt so planted. He now has them for sale (to the powers of the forum I get no cut for any sales or is he paying me to post this) I just want to spread the word on these new shocks.

Here are some pics of it the ones he sells are different color and he uses different springs than I do. I was the prototype dummy

Could one go with an upside-down design for the rears and put the adjustment valve on the bottom?

Id offer up to put some type of seal on the adjustment area to keep road debris/dirt/dust/water out of there.

Something I don't like (and maybe something can be done with this design) is the traditional tightening/loosening spinner wrenches ... I wish it was just a traditional hex wrench you could put a large monkey wrench on.

I also think there should be a better / more reliable locking mechanism rather than just hitting it with a hammer...

Pretty cool design - good for you and good for your buddy

do you think the $4600 price point will come down? I think that's double what I paid for my fortunes?

Adjusting them are not to bad. When the car is in the air I can adjust them using my hand. That being said my Z is stored inside so the coilovers are really not exposed to the outside elements which take a toll on coilovers. On the price I am not sure it's his business but I do know that is the going rate for those shocks. They are a full race shock you see in professional racing.

I hear ya - my z is a garage queen (Frankenstein) but I get dirt everywhere!

price point is always sensitive when you're dealing with a new-to-the market product.

is the set that you got yours to keep for being the test mule?

My Z is the test mule for this setup. Actually this is my second set from him. We had to revise some things which made the shock better and has been working great. These shocks have been on my car for over a year and I have over 20 events from autocross to road course. My Z has been down for a few months doing my LS swap so I am eager to get it back on the road.

Unfortunately no we did a lot of testing from having the shocks on a shock Dyno to having them on my car. They are proven and ready to go.

And like, uhhh all the other design details one would want about a custom damper that they are spending 4-5k on.
